Yea you are spending money on the retooling etc, but if you have two cars selling 50k units instead of one selling only 25k the cost of the platform is reduced. That's why it makes sense to spread platforms around like that.

IE Altima, Altima coupe, Murano.

Another reason is you get to more buyers. Some people may only buy a Toyota car, while others may be Suby loyalists. So you draw in booth buyers with cars from both brands.

boxer engine hmm? I foresee EJ257 in these new scions. I would imagine it wouldnt be too far-fetched either. Considering that the engine is Sub STI engine and they helped build this new TC.

ok...that last post was a joke...i just wanted to get u guys wound up...actually the project i was (and still am) working on is what I THINK the new 2010 silvia should look like...heres what ive got so far (after HOURS of photoshopping)



still quite a ways away from being done...i set it up originally as line art and im using the G35/350z/G37 to pull peices from to build...but the base for the entire car is the nissan urge concept from 2004 (i THINK it was debuted 2004)...the headlights are completely original though...i am trying to go for the "vintage S13 projector" feel...but still keep the silvias aggressive headlight design (ie: S14 kouki)

so yah...whatcha guys think so far???

i'saright... While Im not digging the headlights so much... I can see where you got the idea, and I would not be suprised if Nissan decided to go ahead and do something like that with the new s-chassis.

SO basically, by the time this comes out, i'll have enough money to get either the new sx or a 1 series... So far... Damnit I really dont want to be dissappointed with nissan.

Mine is coming along well now too. I spent a little tie starting the color today.

We're both on the same page and your design and the route I'm going I think are way closer to any of the "renderings" that have been attempted so far.

Of course this is only my guess.

The reason we're using the Urge as the base is because Nissan has said a few times now that the next SX will use that overall design.

It'll be interesting to see how close we are to the real thing.

i can flat out tell you right now...the above design would never happen...and for a couple of reasons

1) car is WAAAAAAY too low slung for a normal production model car
2) belt line is WAAAAAAAAY too low for modern saftey standards
3) doesnt follow nissans current design trends and standards...looks WAY too much like an exotic car of the mid to late 90s

not trying to knock your posting...but a lot of people just dont seem to understand why alot of these photoshopped images of concept cars never make it to the light of day (even if theyre based from a design test made YEARS ago)

honestly...im not trusting that image...at all...that is the ONLY image of that supposed to car to pop up on the web ANYWHERE....kinda strange how there are NO other photos taken of that slide thatve leaked on to the web...im on the fence about that pic

dood...bug the SHIT outta anyone you can about the new silvia...seriously...if you have to beat them with a goddamn bowling pin...just get someone to fricken talk about it...even an announcement date would be super (what i got was nice and all...but damn it i want a world wide confirmation at a press conference)
