just a bumper should be at least a pint of paint.

Dont paint thick coats first of all, second of all since a pint of paint is the smallest you can actually buy yes get a pint. That being said, I have used a pint to spray two hoods, a pair of fenders and a front bumper but I will say it DOES matter what color you use.
So basically, get a quart of primer, quart of clear, a pint of whatever color you need and use the basic guns you can get at harbor freight. Harbor Freight guns are by no means shitty, but they have NOTHING on my $1100 spray gun. Night and day difference, harbor freight gun will allow you to apply coats evenly and come out decent, however my sata spray gun pretty much ensures no buffing, no variation, nothing other than perfect spray every time. |

not necessary with sata guns, they do help the inexperience though!!!! Noob maybe gets to close when he shoots or what not.... I spraid cars for people that have harbor freight guns and if u get to close u get sick orange peel, but with those I just raise up the pressure and spray farther away. And it doesn't come out to bad for using the gun.... But for sure u will need some color sanding |

If you use a harbor freight gun, just practice the gun control previous to actually spraying the bumper and you'll be fine.
But no, if you don't have a nice spray gun it won't turn out perfect. |

Anyone have experience with the 23dollar dupont pints at kragen/pepboys etc? Someone help me choose out a gun from harbor frieight? I know I need hplv, but what kind of spray pattern etc? Do I need to thin out the paint before spray? singlestage or two stage?? thanks again guys. |

The paint works, its not a nice material or anything but it doesnt look like total crap and its cheap.
Single stage won't look as good, ever. No matter what anyone here tries to tell you, a 2 stage paint will ALWAYS turn out better, last longer, better finish, and pretty much not look like a pile of shit. IF you plan breaking this bumper a lot, then yeah, you can single stage it since it will be painted repeatedly. As far as guns, just get one that works, spray pattern doesnt matter. I don't even think non adjustable guns have been made for years now. |

There are several things I have been able to pull out of this thread so far:
1) Auto/Paint manufacturers come up with some pretty wild names for colors. 2) Colors that were OEM on certain vehicles look WAY better on other manufacturer's vehicles IMO. 3) Everyone seems to love the flat/matte colors, and GREEN! I'm just observing...

Try AH3, its pretty close, can be tinted slightly with more red or more black to get the desired color.
I am looking right now for something I found a long time ago that was very close to yashio's color |
