Got another thing checked off my list last night (90%) of it.
Fixed my headlight wiring issue I ran into, loomed up my harness and put my dash back in. It's a small thing but little things add up. ![]()

Haha, it's not very secret. Got the idea off my pal Jover, except his wasn't necessarily colour matched to his hood so it stood out a little.

Wish I knew.
I've been diagnosing it the past few days - even missed a track day I was planning for. Having someone come check out the AEM today or tomorrow to see what it's doing.

So last night went incredibly well.
Put the car on the dyno for some spring tune-up for the smaller turbo housing. The motor's finally appreciating the work. We knocked out 460hp and 360tq. The car feels incredible ![]()

Yea, its fast. The car hauls ass.
I ripped it down the street from my shop...you definitely don't expect that from such a light car. I can't wait to hit gridlife. For the vent, I started all the cutting and everything but didn't get around to mounting it. Its a holiday today and I forgot all the stores were closed so I couldn't go buy paint -____- Instal will commence tomorrow! Lol.

If I had good picture of my friend jovers car I would show you what it looks like.
Problem is his hood vent was flat black and his hood was a different shade of black so it stood out like a soar thumb.

Actually a little more hunting and I found this pic.
So typically people take the giant squared vent and just mount it ontop of their hood with rivets. Personally I'm not a fan of that. So by making a tight template of the raised bits of the actual vent and mounting it underneath the hood, protruding outside, you can simulate a different look from it - a better one in my opinion. He has it still mounted with rivets (big silver ones) and I'm on the fence at this point if I want to go that route (small black ones) or find an alternative to mounting. The differences in paint on the hood and vent still make it stand out more though. ![]()

Bondo/ any sort of panelbond will most certainly crack. The fiberglass will obviously expand and contract at a different rate (even more so it being on the hood) which is not only subjected to engine heat but a huge amount of solar heat as well. Black rivets are your friend.

Check this guy out:
http://www.driftworks.com/forum/drif...project-2.html He's extremely handy with the bodywork side of things. Check his RX7 build too if you get a chance! |

The hood I have isnt worth any body work. If I was doing it on my spare hood I'd properlly mold it in and have it painted. That's not the case however.
It's held in with small rivets nows. I just have to paint the rivets black. I also couldn't go as low as I originally wanted because I forgot I had my aero catch there lol. It's ok though, where I have it positioned it seems as though rad flow is directly where it should be in terms of driving. Also didn't get a chance to clean everything up after I installed it. Was getting late. ![]() ![]()

Eh I think the placement isn't too bad! I know they recommended lower on the hood but I think it looks good in the pics provided. Black rivets and you'll be set!
looking good. |

Possibly in the future when I do this to my good hood I'll mount the aero catch somewhere else so I can run the vent in the proper area....or just buy a vented hood - whichever comes first.
