I am curious to see how the 1060 measures up to the 480. Rumors say it might perform like a 980. I would hate to see AMD lose to Nvida in the low end market to. AMD needs to come with some heavy hitters. I am tired of seeing benchmarks where it is

If the 490 Keeps ddr5 as well, then makes me wonder about the performance. looking at benchmarks the 390x peforms 15-25 frames above the 380x.

I wonder if the 490 will be the same. The 380x msrp was 239, the 390x was 429 (I am using the X verisions since no 490x's have been confirmed).

If they keep similar pricing the 490 would have to be a killer card to compete with the non ref 1070 at 379. It would have to either undercut the price and be within performance, rival the 1080 for cheaper, or sit between the 1070 and 1080 in terms of price and performance.

I'm guessing around $340 or +$10-20-ish reference since its ddr5. hopefully it will perform 15-25fps over 480.
or can be that rumor dual Polaris 10 ranging around $400-450+ish to $500-ish.

anyways, fuck all this guessing shit. I wonder if amd will panic when 1060 schools them @ $250.

on a proper dx12/vulkan it does beat it. also one thing I notice about Polaris is... although, limited on frequency oc it scales better then a oc 2ghz 1060.

hopefully, hbm2 and vega will scale better then Polaris. like off the charts scaling.

on other amd news...seems like positive news for zen.

now just waiting for the price.

Yes true it beats it on dX12 when utilized properly but that is a gamble on AMD that developers will leverage DX12 and vulkan. On opengl and DX11 the rx480 gets trounced regularly by the 1060. If it could have matched the 1060 in performance on DX11 and Opengl It would have been a no brainer.

I am waiting with a cautious enthusiasm on Zen. The last time I got hyped by an AMD cpu release was Bulldozer and we all know how that went.

I believe this will be the 4k killer card we or I've been seeking for. with hbm it scaled nicely with 4k although only had 4gb+old gen arc. 1080 couldn't do it, titan x pascal still couldn't do it.

I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. I notice .my 1080 doesn't fully render texture on the sides especially on wide fov. until it hits a certain centered/central peripheral? maybe its a gradient technique just to squeeze more fps.

also bought a GT Omega Art racing cockpit, thrustmaster t500rs, some goodies for it too, and an oculus rift

btw my msi gtx 970 is for sale $150 +shipping, still like new with original box etc

Vulkan is tedious. I might refit my game with Vulkan down the road, right now it's running on OpenGL 3.3.

That 970 is hella tempting. I would love an upgrade from my 7950.

I've heard that, vulkan is harder to code for than ogengl. What game do you have?
