Sure, no problem, just uploaded it to thingiverse for you.
I need to modify the bracket slightly in the future, to poke a little more out the keyhole and maybe use a better camera, the Q50 one is only 1lux so pretty poor in low light. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6306467 |

this build lives rent free in my head ever since I saw the headlight post on the definitive thread
any chance you'd be willing to upload those files to thingiverse? I'd like to do a remix if you'd allow it

What files specifically? I've uploaded a few of the TPU models just now.

Oh sorry, I'm not quite ready to hand out those files just yet. I'll think it over but I'd like to make a few BiLED or Bixenon low-pro fiberglass/carbon headlight kits first, whenever I can find the time

Haven't updated this in a while, life getting busy and the car is taking a back seat.
I guess we'll start under the car, I found the perfect spot to mount the charcoal canister, fits like it was meant to be here with the custom bracket and hoses. Also got a custom steel driveshaft made locally after DriveshaftShop wanted over $700 to make a custom one that's maybe 1" longer than an OEM S14 shaft. ![]() ![]() ![]() Finished up the trunk pop button and license plate lights, quick little print and some wiring. ![]() Then moved on to wrapping the downpipes and installing the clutch line, another custom bracket and custom bent hardline. ![]() ![]() Fabbed up some bracketry for this fuse box. ![]() Also got around to learning how to TIG aluminum, after a couple practice beads I decided to go ahead and try on the piping and this was the result, very happy with how they turned out. ![]() ![]() And with the intakes in I could make the brackets to hold the filters in place, more custom brackets. These will get some fiberglass/printed splash guards / airbox thing at some point before it gets driven. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now we get to move on to the fun stuff, I'm using the Q50 door latches and newer style strikers, so more metal work to adapt the cable latches to the old rod style handles. ![]() ![]() Finished up the door wiring as well, had to de-pin both harnesses and feed the wires through the original boots one by one. ![]() ![]() And while I was wiring I mounted the BCU & IPDM permanently, more custom printed brackets. IPDM snaps in and also holds 2 relays on the back. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now for my favorite part, I'll leave you with this. I got the touchless door handles working, after I had to de-pot the OEM sensors and encase them in epoxy in the handle, only minor work to the handles to get them to fit. Also fit the lights in, works amazing. Still need to find a place for the lock button though. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yep that was about my reaction too, sheesh. Some truly incredible fab work going on in here -- big props for the impeccable attention to detail. Can't wait to see more of this!

Honestly kind of surprised every time I come here and the site still works, here's a few of the small projects I've completed since the last update.
Made a quick mount to stick the Q50 nav display screen on the dash about where I want it, will need to go back and add a cosmetic hood/cover to blend into the dash. Also a bracket to hold the Q50 gauge cluster in the right position, this will need some kind of Z32 style hood as well. Might stick with this for a bit instead of the 370Z cluster, the information display is kind of nice. ![]() ![]() ![]() I also completed integrating the Q50 window motor/regulators into the S13 window tracks with a little welding and finishing and custom cable ends, also made them serviceable unlike the OEM units. Now I have working auto up/down, with key & remote fob up/down function as well. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My first ever attempt at birdnesting and casting a cable end with melted solder was only a mild success, the lifting cable end pulled out after a few up/down cycles. I did this by doing what a following a few examples on youtube, drilling a 3/8" hole in a piece of wood, and drilling an intersecting cable diameter hole from the edge, insert the cable, birdnest the end, flux, and melt the solder around it, then just break the casting/cable out of the wood. I ended up going back and using MAP gas and bronze rod to cast a much stronger cable stop, and flipped my home made end to inside the roller instead of the window lift bracket, where it will see much less force. ![]() ![]() Picked up some G35 sedan mirrors from the junk yard, they needed a TON of trimming to the bases and I had to heat and resink the studs back into the plastic once it was all done, I think these will look good with the type-X body kit I picked up. ![]() Also been doing a bunch of scanning/CAD for various s13 parts. The OEM window switches, https://www.printables.com/model/943...trim-bezel-lef ![]() Manual window door handles, https://www.printables.com/model/947...ior-door-handl ![]() Defrost vents, ![]() Subframe, ![]() ![]() And I finally started my airboxes so the filters don't just eat rocks thrown from the tires. These will be printed and probably wrapped in a layer of glass or carbon. ![]() ![]() Drove across town to the alignment shop. ![]() ![]() And last but not least, picked up this brand new complete revmatch 2023+ Z trans to bolt to my VR30, factory external slave cylinder so I don't need my CMAK conversion kit any more, to replace the blown 5th gear 370z trans that I got ripped off on. $1800, which is about $1000 cheaper than Z1 wanted for one shipped. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

that really means a lot coming from you, you've been doing some awesome work too, thanks!
btw pretty sure I forgot to post the link but I've been uploading the touched up 240sx 3d scans to grabcad as .stl files if anyone needs them. Just scanned an old s14 diff today and I'd like to get my new VR30 Z transmission scanned this week. https://grabcad.com/k.s-86/models |

My scanned parts library is growing so I threw the 3 diff models into a file for this comparison, may be helpful to someone.
Blue is Z33/G35, purple is an S13 diff with an S14 diff cover, pink is an S14 ABS diff with an S13 LSD diff cover. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Very cool. I always wondered how much wider the output shaft flanges were on a Z diff. I guess not very much hah.

man that is so sweet.
I may have missed it in all the pages in this thread, but what equipment/software are you using for all of the scanning and printing? I guess i could another week to read through it all again haha!

Current 3d scanner is an Einstar, it's been amazing for how little it costs compared to others.
All CAD modeling I do in NX, and Creality slicer 4.8 for slicing. I have quite a few printers, most things I print on the CR10Spro and big parts go on the giant CR-M4. The finish never seems as nice as prints from my friends Prusa and Bambu printers but the parts always come out great and functional. |
