What kinda gearing most y'all run? 46-14? Ii have a 17 rear cog and I hate it. Top out city. What should I switch to?

how much faster do you want to go?

i have a 42/16 and i get up to 30mph pedalling my torso off.

and it's easiest to skid anytime/anywhere, fly uphill/downhill, keep up with traffic.

but ya i'd like to try a 48t front chainring to see what the buzz is about.

I'm running a 46-19, my top speed blows but low end torque is great and it's super fun for tricks/wheelies and puttin around town.

42/16 and 30mph is like a 146 for cadence.....geez. get a 49t chainring or something

supposedly its a 66 super sport which is a rare bike, and schwinn purist say i ruined a expensive and rare bike.. whatevers..

I see it as I saved a potential bike from getting scrapped/no love to something I will enjoy. Knowing its vintage makes it even cooler to me. Sort of like a hot rod.

vintage road bikes never work right unless you restore them with NOS stuff and a few new components like cables and chains.

You didn't ruin a bike, because you still ride it.

since there is no road bike thread. shitty watermarked photo that i wont buy. seagull century! averaged around 18.2mph. headwinds sucked =\. (i'm on right) . best pace of the day was 20mph averaged on a 22mile stint.

sorry turns out it is a 80s world sport.. kinda got my hopes up that it was vintage because the numbers started with GB and some site had that as a 66. but turns out its one of the taiwan bikes built by Giant lol

shitty, I know mine is a late 70's early 80's schwinn that was made by GIANT.

In other news today I busted my first skid without using the brakes like I was before. But then the second time around the chain skipped a tooth, third time it broke the hub.

it's not that bad. this will give you 17 skid patches if you are into that sort of thing. i road 48/17 for ups downs and flats and prefer that ratio more than 49/17.
