I would assume slowly and firmly twist it and pull away. And to redo the spring, take the whole assembly off, turn it upside down, and compress the spring however you wanna do it, and bend the tabs that hold the spring back into place.

This is unconfirmed as I have not done it, but it seems logical.

drift knobs just pull off, and re-tensioning the spring is easy. Just need a small flat head and a pair of pliers.

Lol it's not that easy.
Imagine...I hammered mine down further with a rubber mallet because I wanted it to sit properly and snug, not sitting an inch further out then it should and loose.

I doubt it'll ever come off.

Ohhhh I thought long and hard. I still came to the same conclusion - I hate it sticking out like a sore thumb.

I lie however, I know a secret trick to getting it off

I like hammers btw.

Duplicolor was pretty good. Used it in my old red 240. You'll have to do a bunch of coats however or it will rub off. After discovering that I re-did mine. 3 layers later and it lasted over a year...no clue it's condition now, sold it 2 1/2 years ago.

The spring is probably chillin' inside the e-brake assembly.

I initially thought that as well...but after i've been reading up on it and checking out some "how to's" online it doesn't seem that bad. from what i can tell as long as you prep correctly (vacumm/steam clean or shampoo) and work it over with a brush right after each coat they turn out durable and NOT crusty. but if anyone did it that way and still had shit results PLEASE let me know to save me some headache.

alright, so ill be buying some new material tomorrow to recover my interior door panels inserts, glove box, and stitch up a new shift boot on my s13...trying to decide which of these combos of material i should do, and would love everyones input

1) just stitch a shift boot...done
2) stitch up shift boot, recover glove box in same material...done
3) shift boot, glove box, door panels inserts, all same material
4) shift boot and glove box one material, door panels inserts complementing material
5) shift boot one material, and glove box and door panels inserts another complementing material

I am also fixing up my center console trim just need to pull out the rest of it so i can paint the rest of it to match since the previous owner painted the front one and it wont match the rear center piece...

already have my momo steering wheel installed, just need to get a shift knob and maybe make mounting brackets for my momo buckets i have sitting around

came out great. not crusty. it had some dark brown(maybe coffee?) all over it also. so i took a rug doc to it and got most of it out.

and if you guys need 50% off rug doc rental from lowes....
http://lh5.ggpht.com/_SADhF4_T6k0/TU.../RugDoctor.jpg

expires in about 2 weeks so get on it.

Not finished, but getting there.

The speedometer was the only gauge that still worked in the stock cluster so I moved all the other autometer gauges in there. Tach will be a 5" monster that fits on the A-pillar or something. Planning on using the LEDs as a knock warning light, fan indicator light, meth injection, and I'll think of something for the other one.

Haha, haters. I'm going to reserve judgment until it's in the car, but it's a stripped out track slut. As long as it works, I don't really care.
