im getting really bitter about this subject

Where did Nissan state that they are in fact making such a car?

I thought this car was simply a CONCEPT as a design study and to make a splash in Europe.

No offense, but your posts are starting to come off as "whiny" now-a-days.

i was a little ticked off when i posted most of the stuff in the last couple of days

im pretty much done with the whole "240sx replacement" thing until nissan actually makes something official...theyve heavily disapointed me...especially with their actions at geneva this year..and im tired of putting time and effort into searching for new info about a car right now that is nothing more than "vaporware"

I agree.. the wheels on the Is make it even worse..
the worst thing on both is that that kind of front end and headlights dont match the body.

I dunno... I kind of like it?

I like the way the door line (forgot what it's called?) continues on all the way to the rear, not rounding off like a damn Sebring.

Check this, the Renault Megane RS has a 250hp 2.0L 16-valve Turbo 4CYL.

Geneva 2009: Renault Megane RS - liberté, égalité, velocité [w/VIDEO]

If the SX does come out that just has to be the engine!

i dont see nissan detuning it if they use that motor...im taking an educated guess about the weight of the new SX...count on around 3000-3100lbs...250 would be perfect to power that...given the 370 is around what 330 now on 3300lbs?

Maxima-3669, 290hp
Altima-3179, 175,270hp
370 Z-3,232, 332hp

SX-3100,250hp?

Yea I think you are right. Now that I see specs of other cars it makes more sense for it to be 250, than 205. At 205 it would barely be more powerful than the I4 Atlima. I imagine it would be smaller, but with the added weight of the RWD componets..........

and yes it is all very obvious

maybe, but remember that megane's are front wheel drive. i thinking that if a new SX shows up in next few years, it'll probably use a turbo variant of Nissan/Renault's MR-engines (2.0L turbo) or a NA 2.5L version of the VQ (VQ25HR out of the J-Market Skyline 250GT?).

So? Your point? The VQ is in both FWD and RWD cars. So was the SR and KA. And why would they develop another turbo 4CYL when one already exists (it makes no economical sense) and its NOT going to be a V6. We already discussed this on Pg. 42.

If the new Silvia is gonna have a turbo 4 it's NOT gonna be the engine in the turbo Megane. It's a way old design. When I first learned about the Megane RS i thought it was a turbo MR since the N/A Megane has an MR20DE but the Megane RS actually has an older turbo Renault F-Type engine whose basic design dates back to the 80's. No way Nissan is gonna use that engine. Might as well use an SR if they're gonna go back to an old engine.

Sir, read the article I posted. It is a new 2.5L turbo not the 2.0L turbo that is in the current Megane RS.

Nowhere in the article does it state a 2.5L turbo (I'm assuming that was a typo) and reading in between the lines a bit:

Quote:
New Mégane Renault Sport is powered by a new-generation 2-litre 16-valve turbocharged petrol engine which boasts maximum power of 250hp (184kW) at 5,500rpm and peak torque of 340Nm from 3,000rpm. The sum of the different improvements made to this engine has produced a gain of 20hp and 40Nm over Mégane R26.R which itself emerged as the yardstick in the world of performance hatches.
1. New generation implies there was a previous generation, meaning it isn't an all new design

2. "Sum of improvements" also implies it is an existing design.

Sorry, I even said 2.0L the first time. I think my brain took 250hp and turned it into 2.5l. I was under the impression this was a new engine. I'm losing it.

i don't see nissan using a renault only engine in their stuff was probably the bigger point. from an economical standpoint, it makes more sense to make an RWD MR20 because the development costs of that engine was shared with renault, whereas the megane engine is an older renault only venture (i.e. it's not a ringer engine that nissan can just stuff in whatever), so they'll have already saved a bit on the costs of the MR design. also, based on recent nissan trends, they'll want to stuff the same engine in EVERYTHING, VQ-style.

I'm fine with the name Celica. Atleast it can regain some of the names glory, GT-FOUR anyone? Instead of that POS last gen they made.

I take it no new news on Nissan at this point? Probably just gonna wait it out and build up anticipation.
