just when i was starting to like my car again, this had to happen ...

Friday, July 1st i pulled into the garage after i took a friend to work in the morning ... i popped the hood because my Brake light had been on (my left rear caliper leaks, so i have to add fluid) ... well as i open the hood, all of a sudden the upper radiator hose bursts and burning coolant hits me

i start convulsing like crazy, cant even think because im in shock ... i basically ripped off my clothes and ran inside into the shower (its funny now that i think about it, but at the time it was not) - long story short i got 2nd degree burns on my left hand/wrist and 2nd & 3rd degree burns everywhere from my waist to my knees [both thighs] ... i had burn creme and gauze at home so i wrapped myself up and took some painkillers, ended up in the Burn Unit at the hospital for 10 days and now im doing physical therapy learning how to walk again :/

it sucks but i should be fully recovered before August comes around - im extremely lucky the damage wasnt worse, and the coolant didnt get on any other part of my body like my face or something

in other news, a friend came by to get my old MAF last night so i could send it in to our parts guy as a core and buy a new one and he looked at my car to figure out what happened since i cant walk and have been in bed with no chance to look at it .... well the radiator neck broke off i guess from pressure and thats why the hose came flying off at me

so... now i need to find a new radiator for an AT S14, which sucks because all the aluminum ones are for MT, which means ill have to get a tranny cooler as well, unless i get the CXRacing Aluminum Radiator for AT S14 w/ KAs ... any opinions on if CXRacing is a decent enough brand to use for my Radiator w/ built in AT cooler? The other option is to get the ISIS Radiator and some 12" fans and then just get a $30 Tranny Oil Cooler from AutoZone

damn dood thats terrible i hope youre feelin better

from what ive heard about CXracing radiators, its hit and miss. some people get a good one, some dont.
i guess if you want to do the job "right" then id recommend the isis radiator and the Vatozone cooler and be done with it.

It seems that the neck breaks off on all oem type radiators. Mine did it the week after I bought my car, luckily the motor wasn't hot when I found out. Good luck with the recovery man, I can't imagine how much pain you are in

thanks guys ... im thinking about taking the chance on the CXRacing radiator just because i dont want to go through the hassle of getting a tranny cooler - it sucks being automatic, but itd be silly to do all that extra custom work and then have to get rid of it all later down the road if i do the swap

I ended up rigging it and running the autox. Later i switched it out for a mishimoto unit with the mishimoto tranny cooler. i ziptied the cooler to the front lol. faking the funk before i was turbod

I don't know how capable you are of working on your car at the moment, but the tranny lines are literally 2 rubber lines that come off the hardlines going to the front of the car. Installing a tranny cooler would literally be as simple as hooking those rubber lines to a cooler and just sticking it somewhere up at the front of the car.

I've had a CXRacing Radiator in my car for a year with no issues, it seems to be built very solid.

well right now i cant even walk out to the garage to look at the car, but once im recovered id be fine ... i know its only 2 lines, but theres no OEM location to hang the tranny cooler and im not a fan of zipties or adding holes, i want to keep everything as stock as possible for now (i know, complete opposite of most 240 owners) so i dont want to add any holes or anything unless i have to

Lazystance, in my personal opinion your car looks great the way it already sits. to put navan on it would only lessen the wow factor of your car and make it look more.. hmm.. mundane? bland? ..milktoast? ..I just think navan aero looks boring in most cases.
