yeah i mean i had a limited amount of scrap metal to use so i couldn't make the tubs extremely big. I did gain some clearance +1, it was free +2, and it works +3.

like i said, i wish i had used trailer fenders, but im an impatient son of bitch and i just wanted to work on something.

You certainly did not gain much clearance. If you're going to the trouble of making tubs, at least plan for large tires and big angle...

i have 225/45/18's +25 with 5mm spacers, and apexi n1 damper exv with camber plates, and isis tension bars that were on the car during the production, and its going to be a straight line car. AT full steer i have 1" of clearance from the tub, which is better than 1/4" of clearance which is what the stock was.

im not a drifter. i always wreck.

started my tubs, got the pass. side tacked in place today and still got some minor spots to take care of. first thing i've ever fab'd by myself. question though, any tips to welding to the strut tower? welds keep blowing through

cut in pretty hard:

started tacking (can see areas needing improvement)

underneath:

significantly more room:

i did this partially for more room up front, but also because my old wheel wells were pretty mangled, with holes everywhere, this looks much better. just have to touch up those two trouble spots

Turn the voltage down.

On the Lincoln 140 I use, the voltage is around C and the wire speed is at just a hair above 2. Works great.

someone please just use cardboard as their tubs. it doesn't help rigidity of the chassis anyways. and it's like easily replaceable

i'll make some disposable tubs for the s-chassis market

Make sure all 4 sides of the metal is clean. I mean take the paint, primer, undercoating, seam sealer off with a wire wheel then make sure to wipe any other contaminants off with acetone (not brake clean) before welding. Undercoat and seam sealer like to boil and expand and blow through even from the other side.

Yes, i cut the extra sheet metal underneath that you can see in the pics.
I left at least 4-4.5 inches there, just incase i didnt like the ls1 and i wanted to go sr20 and then id have enough room to cut holes for the ic piping or i guess i could go a different route.lol

NICE! Very clean although it doesn't look like you've really gained much.... Why didn't you take them further forward?

Should be able to do it, just easier with the engine out to get the the lower parts.
Could also weld from the inside too, surely be able to do it then.
I may be knocking min out here within the next few weeks.
