One more retort, the exact same as the last time you called me a "champaign [sic] socialist:" I prefer red wine, darling.
It's fucking "Champagne." It's named after the region in France from which the grapes are derived. And I'm no socialist, no matter how hard you try to paint me as one. |

one thing that has gotten seriously bad in the last 12 months in CA is the drastic rise in houses.
Still beating myself up over not jumping on getting something last year in highland park or pasadena area where a nice 2k sq ft house one could get for 700ish. Geez now even a 1k sq ft junk house goes for 1mil listing and most likely it will go for 1.2 at the end. Think it's still a great state if you're very wealthy and blowing a few million on a house is no big deal. Now if you don't already have a house and want to be a homeowner I think thats a legit reason to want to move. The fuss over the homeless I don't really get. Some of you make it out to be like hordes of them are swarming everywhere and thats not the case at all. don't believe all the exaggerations Fox News is telling you. |

I was living in Anaheim a few years ago when they had that famous homeless encampment off the 57 near the Angel's stadium. You'd be hit up for cash by druggies in their mid-20s on a daily basis while you're running or riding your bike and it just got sketchy at night. It was definitely not an environment you'd feel comfortable you and your family being in. If you're going to DTLA watch out for the human feces and/or needles. There's literally an entire street lined with tents where someone strung out and their eyes rolled back into their sockets is not an uncommon sight. These are things that one shouldn't have to deal with especially when its already so expensive to live here. Maybe its not bad where you live or maybe you don't go out much. But chalking this crisis off to being over-exaggersted by right wing news media just shows how out of touch you are with living in CA.. |

Why even mention Fox news? Do you not walk around your neighborhood, or drive into nearby areas? It doesnt take a news agency to broadcast it, all you have to do is pay attention to your surroundings. I guess folks living in Beverly Hills dont pay attention the peasants... after all, they have no names. |

I've worked in DTLA for 12 years, mostly in the Arts District from 06-early 19 in warehousing. Still go out there once or twice a month on average. Been to NY and NJ maybe 40 trips in the last decade, which is considered to have the highest homeless population. Lived in SF for 2 years in the late 90s. OC I have no idea and no reason to be out there more than a handful of times.
Did not claim whether or not it's a crisis for some of you guys, but it isn't some big deal to me to shake my head when a panhandler approaches or use common sense and avoid stepping on poop or not do my morning jog in flip flops through skid row. I get it, some of you might be bothered by some grit but not all of us are. If this is what keeps you up at night, not sure to envy you or pity you. From the way Fox new rants and foams at the mouth about LA homelessness, yes I find what they say to be over the top, but then again they seem to enjoy getting really worked up and yell about anything they disagree with. Really sad how so many conservatives have lost the ability to be civil. |

Copper is toxic to aquatic life, covering everything from algae to salmon and trout.
The effect an algae die-off would have is profound and nuanced- essentially everything in a river or stream has something to do with algae. It's all about who can get away with what and when. Again, consumers are left on the hook for industrial issues. |

..but damn those house prices, right? Nevermind theres a needle and human feces within spitting distance of the property or the park down the street filled with tents and shopping carts. I just don't think these should be issues when the price of that old tiny house is already approaching $1M. Maybe my standards are too high, idk.. |

Anyone still living in California care to comment on this bullshit hit piece, entitled:
Larry Elder is the Black face of white supremacy. You’ve been warned https://www.latimes.com/california/s...k-californians never seen so much balogna from the paid media as of late: - video footage of newsom dressed down in his "normal guy" gap attire so that he can clean up trash. he looked like an angry child, as if his aunt pelosi told him to clean up his room. - dems trying to say that the right is responsible for the recall, as if everyone in cali is not fed up with the bullshit. - now they're trying to paint the brotha larry as a white supremacist. so lemme get this right: larry elder = black man = white supremacist? but...... corporate white man = pelosi's nephew = newsom is for the common working man? wait wait wait... i thought it was all about white privilege. so, going by that logic... if newsom has white privilege, shouldnt he step aside and *give* his job to larry elder to promote black rights? this is a chappelle sketch, right? |

But the right is responsible for the recall.
Elder for Governor 2021 contributed $2.02mm. Geoff Palmer, $1.2mm. Prov 3:9, LLC, $500k. Mike Huckabee PAC, $225k, The Lincoln Club of Orange County, $213k, Saul Fox, $200k, California Republican Party $187.22k. The anti-recall effort is hugely "left," by the way. I don't think Larry Elder is a white supremacist, I think he's a politician. He ignores facts, cherry-picks statistics, amps up crowds, capitalizes on buzz words and social media trends. In other words... he's exactly the person California doesn't need to be running the State. |

You're focusing solely on funds, I dont see your point. What about the people living in the state who, regardless of affiliation, are flat out tired of newsom? You do realize there are plenty of democrats who are unhappy with him, right? If this was not the case, the recall would have no traction.
This is the very same reason why people are pushing to recall fuckwads like deleon and gascon. As for elder, I think you a very misinformed. First, he is not a politician. Did he hold position before without anyone knowing? That would be news to me. Second, he doesnt ignore facts. If you have ever listened to him during his 25+ years of being on air, he researches and forms pretty solid opinions on things. So, now would be a good time for you to elaborate on how Gavin Newsom is actually doing good for the state. How he is for the people. and how it wasnt him, eating at the french laundry, with other lobbyists.... with no mask, which you hold oh so dearly. I'll wait. |

You can be a politician without ever holding office. Trump was one before his election.
I've never listened to Elder. I stopped listening to talk news in 2007 or so, when my views started changing. Talk show hosts are blowhards. Elder's website is a fucking joke, and some of his policies are as well. He's wrong about housing, he's wrong about drought and surface water storage, he's wrong about crime and systemic racism. He's smart, and he's wrong. I don't know that I've ever praised Newsom (although I might have at some point). I think he's a smarmy cockmunch lacking vision. I can be against Newsom and against the recall as well- the two aren't mutually exclusive. |

When in doubt, refer to the dictionary bud:
politician ~ noun a leader engaged in civil administration If you dont listen to Elder, then you're simply misinformed. And if you dont know, you need to zip it. He's lived in Socal most of his life, even went to the same high school as me. His logic falls in line with others who are much more knowledgeable than both you and i, such as Victor Davis Hanson (his credentials alone speak volumes). And if you buy into the boogey man of systemic racism, then Ibram X Kendy has a bridge to sell you and you should be hanging out with race hustlers like Robin Diangelo and Al Sharpton. Actually, Newsom is one of the few examples of systemic racism since he's had his way paved. His white ass should step aside and give his job to a well-educated black man who, unlike ice cube, actually lived in south central. |

And informally, leaders engaged in civil administration need not hold elected office.
What's Larry Elder's solution for infrastructure needs for the millions of housing units he wants to build? Suspend the CEQA and build cheap housing on government land. There are 44,000 parcels under consideration but have you looked at the locations? Commutes create poverty cycles. Democrats haven't broken the ag lobby's stranglehold on water costs and rights and Elder certainly wouldn't alienate Republican-voting farmers. Surface water storage is a complex topic that not only involves California water authorities but Federal water authority conversations. It requires a systematic approach to figure out what does what, where, and why. Systemic racism isn't a boogeyman, unless you consider the boogeyman to just be something that invisibly takes lives in which case yeah, it's a boogeyman. |

$276 million pissed into the wind.
That's 18.4% of our firefighting budget. 31.9% of the estimated cost to repair the damage from the 2017 rains. 9.2% of our drought budget. |

And it wasn't.........even..........close. +30%?? Did the gQp not do their due dilligence before any of this?? Oh thats right; they just throw in random black guy with a checkered past because they have zero platform.......in a race that was won by Newson by 20 or 30 points prior.
Why isn't the right screaming hell or high water about a waste of our tax dollars?? Oh, thats right. It's only a waste if they trample democracy, suppress votes and they ram their guy in and still, not win by cheating... Or pull dumb shit like this; claim there is MASSIVE voter fraud and claim you have results from your systems.......which works in 3rd world countries you shit on.... BEFORE a single vote (or results) are tallied. So the machine is discovering voter fraud with no actual ballots or actual votes tallied. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/ele...fraud-n1279080 Quote:

P.S The recall rules are insane
If Newson gets 50% or less, he could automatically get recalled. However, if another candidate only gets like 15 or 20% of the tally, he becomes governator. HTF does one get LESS votes ( 20 - 30% LESS votes which translates to million on top of million of votes LESS) get to become governor?? The gQp platform was; exploit shitty rules, throw a black guy in the mix, scream voter fraud, profit. No plan to cut gas tax. No plan to find jobs and residence for the homeless population. No plan to more reasonably address the housing market. Just scream and sling shit... :sigh: |

Gray Davis, who was recalled and replaced with Schwarzenegger, has been asking for recall reform since his recall.
It wasn't sour grapes. It was a direct and intimate understanding of the pitfalls of the asinine recall requirements. |

^^^^Exactly why I voted no even though he's a douche. Also why there were 9000 nominees who would never have a chance in hell on the ballot. I hope he pulls the ultimate petty-bitch move and has a celebratory dinner at the French Laundry

No, it wasn't the will of the people nor would the results be the will of the people.
As of August 30, 2021, there were 22,057,154 registered voters in California out of a possible 24,819,858 eligible voters. The recall required 1,495,709 signatures and got 1,719,900 certified signatures as of July 1. Doing the math, the recall only got signatures from 7.79% of the registered voters. It got less than 10% of the registered voters as of the last gubernatorial election (19,696,371 and 8.73%). So is the will of the people the will of the few or the will of the many? I'm not saying that we shouldn't have a robust system of recall in place but for one in ten people to force a $276 million expenditure seems... stupid, does it not? PS: https://recallgavin2020.com/meet-the-board/ Check out the bottom. Geoff Palmer. Prov 3:9. Follow the money- I can lead you to water, but I cannot make you drink. |

The disparity is huge, but the fact remains it was a conservative effort to recall.
Now we're likely even further behind for next year. Newsom likely has a real chance at being reelected (thanks to bigger coffers) and we know the Republicans don't have any real candidates. |
