First of all, the operators weren't soldiers. Why does everyone use 'soldiers' as a synonym for troops.



I'm interested to see pictures of the supposed corpse when they hit the internet. I'm not saying he's not dead, but I don't believe it happened the other night and under those circumstances.

This doesn't mean troops are coming home too much faster, somone has probably already replaced Osama on his pedistal. It also doesn't change that we're NOW fighting Taliban in Afghanistan. Osama's death wouldn't affect that it's almost harvest season for their opium, and they will fight to defend their livelyhood.

But why this makes me :
We've been trying to catch this guy since '94, and people are being lead to believe that because someone snaps their fingers- all is done. No. That is not how today's military operations work.

I don't know, I'm pretty out of the loop because I'm in Afghanistan right now and can only really get on my email, facebook, and Zilvia, but all this celebrating and "mission accomplished" sounding crap makes me think, why the fuck did I watch 5 Marines die, 1 lose both of both of his legs, 1 get a concussion last week, and why am I in a wounded warrior tent?

Osama: won his superbowl, took his ring, and chilled in his mansion in Pakistan. He hasn't been a player in this war for a while now. Besides, the leaders of the Al Qaeda operate much like our American government, cutting the supposed head off the snake isn't going to do anything but piss people off.

Mission accomplished: Bullshit. We entered Afghanistan to find this guy, and ended up finding him in Pakistan, and it's not even a country our operating forces are official in. Not to mention the rediculous timeline it took to find him and American casualties sustained during that time. Mission failed.

I am NOT a spokesperson for the United States military or United states government or anything likewise, these are merely my personal thoughts.

I put that part on the end so noone could possibly mistake my thoughts as the thoughts of the military in general just because I basically said I'm in Afghanistan and the whole thing lowered my moral because shit happened last week, and that some people think the war has ended because Osama is dead.

That's because of the media, and that is the issue we (Military individuals) have with it.

Soldiers = ARMY, and ONLY ARMY

Navy Seals, like the rest of the Navy, are Sailors.
Air Force has Airmen.
Coast Guard has Guardsmen.
Easiest of all to remember, Marines are Marines.

The media used to use the proper term, "Troops" all the time. For some reason, they have switched to calling everyone Soldiers, which isn't appropriate.
However, everyone that has read this, can no longer use "ignorance" as an excuse.

I'm really not trying to insinuate that it is a big hoax or that the president is lying, I just find it pretty crazy that all this is happening in such a quick manner. Osama had many look alikes, so there is a possibility that it wasn't him. I want to believe that they finally got the guy after all these years but you have to understand why I'm being skeptical, it's like hearing something you never thought would happen like "Hey you won the lottery!"

I'm not part of any movement, I just think that it would bring closure after all these years. I don't see how a picture of a dead guy would be any more graphic than 90% of the other shit that is on tv.
