Im really more concerned with reliability, and beatability that I am horsepower numbers. I want the car to make good power, but at a safe level, and be able to beat the shit out of it.

Sounds like a real enthusiast to me haha! I say who cares about peak this or that, how reliable is the tune going to be so you can beat on it and not have to worry about the engine holding up? Save for a few instances, I think their tunes are conservative enough to protect the engine, but still make great power. Keep us posted on which route you go.

OK but I have a question about a rom tuned ecu. I have one (Enthalpy), and would like a retune, but REALLY don't want to have to take it out and send it back for that. I like driving the car. What options do I have then? Can they send a chip with the retune i can swap? Or are the chips in the daughterboard using some sort of software that local tuners can use to tune and burn me a new one? I'm lucky enough to have several very good tuners nearby.

If you purchase a reflash from enthalpy, they'll send you a new set of chips on the mail. you pull the old ones out and install the new ones.

Bshotts has said essentially everything I've wanted to say. No need for SAFC at all...and to go along with what he commented, they often times lead to bigger issues and headache than it's worth.

Proper logging and gauges are the key to success; get a wideband, get nissan data scan (or similar) and goto town.

You're not going to get much safer than a Rom tune.

Ok, but whats the point of keeping track and doing all of the logging on it if you cant change anything on it. I thought the whole point of these things were "set it and forget it" LOL

I have a wideband, and a boost guage. Thats all I will probably use if I go ROM tune.

you should also have water temp and oil pressure

edit: what else i dont get is how you have been a member here since 2003 and dont know most of these answers or how to search for these answers....hell even go back through this thread and all your questions are answered. (i can understand wanting to hear it really easily from these guys on here, but still its all been answered before by all of them)

also if you want to look for reliability and beatability i would just stick with a t25, i will be the first to say i have beat the shit out of my car everytime i drive it (my boost controller never leaves 20lbs) and even still things go wrong...yes the tune and everything is spot on (JWT) but other things do break (clutches for example) that is just something to keep in the back of your mind

i wasnt trying to be a dick, just trying to point some things out

your def in the right thread to get the most updated info

i have the same set up as cody (he even built it haha) and can say nothing but great things about everything with the setup (turbo,JWT, cams, etc).

the setup works, just trust it, and what they say

I installed my 2871 .64 a few weeks ago. Love it but can't use it. At 7psi my stock injectors are at 100% Haha go me....

at least getting it to be "useable" is not far away.....injector swap and fuel pump swap are both really easy to do.

I already have a fpr and pump installed. My plan is to throw on an isis intake mani and sti injectors a few days before my tune. Which isn't until the 15th next month by Steve Shadows.

What mods do you have? I'll be on 18psi and my tune will be on the same dyno.

Be sure to get to a track to get your trap speed, as we all know dyno racing isn't an exact science. 340 whp at 19 psi def is fast car on a DD setup!

If you're gonna go top mount, you'd be best off going with a smaller housing T3/T4 setup...just as responsive, much cheaper.

that all depends on the driver the 60ft time and the amount of spinning these light asses do lol.

I've seen 330whp s14s run borderline 10/11s and 370+Whp s14s run 12s but trapping 11second soeeds.

I'm not worried about ET, i'm worried about trap speed

Trap speed gives you a true HP. You have the weight, you have the distance...figure an average weight and you've got your 'whp'

ET wise though you're right. The 60' is what matters most. Figure I went 11.65 with a 1.88 60', if I had that in the 1.60/1.50 range it would easily be a low 11.

I was just curious b/c I already have the 56 trim .64 a/r . Thinking about just buying the other housing and slapping it on a Mazworx manifold w/ external gate. B/C Topmount > Bottommount is what I keep hearing.

i'll be going to the drag strip soon and i'm sure i'm around 400whp by normal standards after my tuned was done we put 2012 ss camaro on the dyno dynamic's and it only spun the rollers to 297.3whp and they make 360ish whp average down from 426 crank hp, what trap speed should i be looking for?... i've never tried on an actual strip lol

If you already have the T2 flanged turbine, stay with the bottom mount. The top mount really isn't going to gain much with the small turbo. In the end, you're going to spend a ton of cash on the top mount setup, to only make the same power that you can make with the stock exhaust manifold.

Oh man first time is gonna be fun! Trap Speed is simply a Figure a 2600lb s13 should trap 120-122 with 400 whp.

FWIW: We've had SS's on our dyno, they were both in the mid 370's on our DynoJet. You gotta think those cars are going to see 15ish-20ish% drive train loss from factory. Load bearing dynos may be better tuning tools, but their power repeatability is often off. Heck even the V6 cars have been making good power

Standard Block, standard Head.... Cosworth 1.5mm HG, ARP Head Studs, GT2871R .64, Z32 MAF, 740cc injectors, walbro 255, and a Nistune ECU Tuned By Seb at Specialty Z.

Nice we have basically the same set up. I just have wiseco 87mm pistons (can't remember if that's .020 or .040 over) and I have stock cams. Hopefully I'm close to your numbers! Will make me very happy lol

Edit-Although I don't think my exedy hypersingle will be able to take that power. We will see.
