again nice work!

That aircraft stripper doesn't eat away at the plastic at all? I have some painted interior trim I really hate wanted to strip it down and spray it OEM black, all you did was spray it on and rinse it off with water?

Well I pressure washed it as I was impatient and my brother already had the pressure washer out. But yeah you can strip it multiple times and rinse it with water till you get them clean. Try not to get the chit on your skin it wont burn you but it irritates the skin and feels like its burning you. Sucks.

Lol well just bought my oxygen tank, wire, nismo mounts, and tommorrow I am buying my 05 transmission with 22k on it since 04 trans seem to have problems. The guy said the trans should be at my house before the weekend. Nismoparts.com gave me my tracking number and my S15 core support and bumper reinforcement will be in wednesday. Called up my buddy mike and he is going to teach me how to use my toy, my lincoln mig welder. So this weekend its on! Stay tuned.....

I would but I dont have one lol, I was just stating the 04 trans had problems for anyone that might be pondering this swap. There is a listing on ebay where you can buy a core trans for $200 bucks and it states for parts only so you could hit that up....

Gearing up for the weekend.....
Nismo S14 mounts came in, dont know if they will work with the mount kit or if I need 350z mounts, but I figured if they dont work I can always sell them:

And if I have time after welding I am going to start planning the routing of the 350z harness, I finally finished labeling everything so here it is every freaking wire in a 350z besides the engine harness, labeled and ready to be modified to fit:

Come on delivery guy, I need my transmission!

Well delivery man didnt let me down the trans came in:

Like a little kid on christmas I started playing with my new toy, amazingly SR20/KA24 transmission mounts bolt right up to the G35/350z trans:

And the test fit with the swap kit transmission crossmember:

So looks like everything is going smooth so far, hopefully it stays that way, so now its off to the shop to get mated up with the engine and mounted to the car stay tuned, more updates to come tommorrow!

Unfortunately my friend was unable to make it up to my shop today to help me with the welding so I went ahead and got the motor ready and decided to test fit it with the mount kit.
Pulled her out of the corner with our pallet jack, got the hoist leveler bolted to her:

Picked her up and dismantled the damaged portion of the bottom, the remains:

Damaged G35x upper oil pan to the left, 350z to the right:

Think I should swap in the G35x baffle?
The only damaged parts left on the motor, the front timing cover and crank pulley, which I have both:

A little look at the extremely clean bottom end:

Temporarily reassembled bottom end for fitment purposes:

Put the new shifter bracket onto the trans, which was a *****. Its no wonder VQswap.com has had complaints about fitment. Had to bend this sucker a bit to get it to line up properly. Luckily I got this kit CHEAP since I didnt buy from them directly.

Started to get her all nestled in when we realized the arms that go between the motor mounts and the motor on a G35 would hit the frame rails:

So back out she came, for removal of the arms:

After removing the manifolds, removing the arms and temporarily bolting the manifolds back on, back in she went:

Here she is all positioned awaiting for her front mounts to be made:

Transmission is all mounted with the swap kit cross bar:

Shifter is positioned in the stock hole:

But, I am concerned about the angle the shifter is sitting at, might have to cut it and re angle it to be level:

Not sure if thats how its supposed to sit :dunno:, this is VQswap.coms pictures theirs looks more level, another fitment issue possibly? Looks like the angle is off the way they welded it looks like I will have to cut and weld to fix it.

Pics of the room I have for turbo:

Passenger side:

I was thinking, what about just make a thicker heatsheild for the fuel side, and wrap the header with heat wrap as well. and keep the stock fuel lines

You could do that but I am removing all the lines for when I have the car blasted, so then I am free to route the lines where ever. Someone doing this to a S chassis and not going as extreme as I am could do that.

My friend came by the shop today and we got busy on the car...
It started out as this engine bay with the hacked giant holes from the previous owner which needed to be filled in:

Got to cutting on the drivers side:

To cover the hole, a trailer fender I bought off ebay. The original backing went on the opposite side of the trailer fender. My friend Mike and I ground it off and re-welded it to the other side for a cleaner, more round look. It also served as my practice piece in my welding training, lol:

Using some card board for a rough mock up:

Cut the trailer fender in half, fit it to cover the hole and cut away the extra metal that was un needed:

Welded the fender in place:

Cut out the rest of the rough hole that was cut and welded some metal in its place:

Did the same to the other side:

And we ran out of metal, so here is how she currently sits till next time when we have more sheet metal:

And an idea of what she will look like with the new S15 core support installed:

For now, I have some reading material my friend brought me back fresh from japan (well I cant read it but the pictures sure are freakin sweet!)

IM going to build my own, its going to be built based off the power lab 350z single GT35R turbo kit, the power lab kit comes with some things I do not wish to use like the turboxs module and the oil pan spacer, plus I know any kit that I buy I will have to cut/modify in some way. Call me crazy but I just cant bring myself to cut up an $8k kit, especially when it can be somewhat duplicated easily because it runs off of the stock manifolds.

Actually there is alot more room in there then you think, easily way more room than the Z33.

That's what I thought when I saw the pics too. You're going to try to run stock 350z/G35 manifolds, with a cross pipe behind the motor or what? Doesn't seem like there's enough room between the motor and the firewall with the tranny being so tall.

Anyhow, great work so far, and can't wait to see more

Well Im going to buy better manifolds, the stock ones choke the chit out of the motor. Yes I am going to run a cross pipe in there some how, some way lol. Havent quite got to planning out routing it as I have been busy with welding the tire wells as you can see, but ill get creative and figure out something.
