Just wanted to share my experience which sums up the South Florida car scene. So after I picked up my order from chipotle, I swung by the local Thursday meet. Typical drive build civics, beat up e30s, teggies that swear up and down they have a 10 second car.

So I pulled up and saw a buddy of mines and we were chopping it up and what not, me eating my burrito bowl and this guy comes up and asks "Who's 240 is this?" I told him mines and then precedes to ask the typical do you slide it question. I told him not yet i'm waiting for 2 way and a few of my plans before I do take it out to the track. I mentioned paint and he said: "Who needs paint when you are going to slide it into the wall and then you just buy a new fender to do it again."

This is the biggest problem down here, its like they expect you to drive a POS because if you drift it will just end up as one. He even condemned my s14 like I couldn't possibly be a good driver and keep it from a wall. Driving a cool looking 240 is far fetched.

but seriously, it seems as though the majority believe that you have to stuff your car into a wall, or into someones door to be considered a "real/good drifter".

and i wish people asked me if i drifted mine. instead they would ask if it was for sale, or if any parts were. owning a rust free s13 in illinois is hard

Here's a dose of reality.

If you don't have the money to do this shit properly, just don't. There, I said it. Broke dicks are ruining this scene and justifying it with "hoonigan brah, missile car brah, fuck it" attitude. When in reality, they are just driving shit boxes really really REALLY poorly. Ie fucking Paisa Drift etc.

If your trying to "tap" the wall, you should probably have a year or two of solid driving under your belt. And by "tap" I mean "tap", not blow out everything from the fucking C pillar back.

I had a 2 240's in highschool, early 2000's, worked at Target. Then an 86, then an x8. Guess what. I DIDN'T FUCKING TOTAL ANY OF THEM. Every car saw track time as well. They were all super basic, suspension, stock engine. Then I got broke because of school, quit for a while, finished, got a damn job, picked up a Z33 and am just now hopping back in 5 years later.

It's a completely different atmosphere now.

People try to go from rags to riches overnight. I don't even think people go out to track for fun anymore. ProAm dreams and stars in their eyes with a minimum wage job. I've even seen shitty "Go Fund Me" profiles and other donation type shit kids set up to "support" their "dream".

Fuck it. I'm going to go buy a Pathfinder or some shit and get into hiking
