noob here to welding but not totally to machining. Use to run/of the Okuma LT300 7 axis cnc mill/lathe at comp cams. It makes custom billet cam cores for any teams with deep pockets.

my first real weld project.
stock 2003 Ruckus

lower seat frame

mocking up the fatty rear wheel

didn't want to pay +250$ for a stupid 50cc exhaust so i did this..

checking clearance of new exhaust and fatty wheel

THen new motor mounts to offset the wheel to the center of the scoot. Stock is 3" wide and the new wheel is 8". Had to shift the motor 2.5" to the left.

new shock mount

test fit

After some tweaking and R&D, it seemed to hold up good and i haven't died from it yet (knock on wood) so i painted it.

Overall the project came out a lot better than I expected. Still learning how to weld better and slowly collecting machining tools. Love making my own stuff..

moar pics of my ruckus build.

Yesterday I built this brushguard for a friend. First one I have built, we kind of just made it up as we went along. 1.75" ERW 0.120 tubing and 1/4 " round bar.
Got to try out my new millermatic 211, my christmas present to myself lol

Truck wouldnt fit in the garage,

We bent up a bully bar style center from a single 10' tube and welded it to 1/4"x3x2 angle iron which bolts to the frame.

I was particulary happy with this weld, got all the settings dialed in,

The basic shape;

We cut out little circles to keep water and mud out of the tubes and welded them all shut

Added bars to protect the lights

All done

started a cage for a customer, its for a group 4 ae86 rally car,
made from aviation grade CDS carbon steel, its not finnished
yet, it has to go back to the customer to get rear tubs, 4 link box's and turrets, and then back to me to finnish the cage.

Yeah! You'd be surprised how much your BMC moves when you brake hard - eliminating the flex gives you a more consistent feel, but doesn't change overall braking power.

Better pedal response and slightly more linear braking.

Congrats!! So awesome. We're still looking for lift(s), etc. You already have some nice equipment there.

Minor update, over the weekend I built a massive materials rack for our shop. There's lots of work being done on the cars too, but no pics, we tend to take pictures of the stupid stuff like materials rack hahaha.

SO MUCH BETTER than a bigass pile of materials on the floor! Not to mention I got to use up about 40 feet of various materials we had laying around!
