fyi (for you or anyone else who may not know), a wheel's listed width is between the inner and outer tire bead seats. the edge of the lip is typically a half inch wider than that seat on each side. so a x11 wheel is actually 12" wide from lip to lip. 12" wide means 6" from the back lip to the center (where 0 offset would be). 4.5" of backspacing means there's 1.5" of distance between the hub seat and the center of the wheel (toward the inside of the barrel). 1.5" ≈ 38mm. the wheel offset is -38mm. or if you suck at doing math, you can reference this

it's on a 18x9.5+15[RFP1], and with my caster setting, it hits the section where bumper and fender meets at the most rear point of the bumper.
we'll see how this setup handles with 275/35/18 RE05A's in rear[on 18x10+38 RPF1] I'm hoping it won't understeer due to more grip in rear.

jaysgottaredtop - THANKS! That's exactly what I was looking for.
I have a 235 front 275 setup on my 240 right now and it is horrid. The front pushes under pressure and the back won't grip under power, so I am wanting to go to at least 255 front 315 rear, but we'll see.

Any time you increase your stagger by more than 30mm you're going to be increasing understeer. There's no way around it. I should've went with a 255 upfront, but I was afraid it wouldn't fit, I was wrong.

I'm thinking about moving my 18x9.5 w/ 265/35 to the front and selling my 18x9.5 235/40s
Then buying 18x10.5 +28mm for the rear and running a 285 ImageUploadedByTapatalk1373925572.319302.jpgCurrent fitment with 18x9.5 265/35 +15 |

Put my 255/255 setup on my new s13 for autox yesterday. I actually picked up another set of 17x9 +35 Rpf1s (have to run 10mm spacer in front) and I waiting on my 245/40 Conti DW tires to show up (wet weather autox setup ) to get them put on.
This is 17x9 +22/17x9.5 +38 with 255 RS-3s front and rear. Alignment is -3.1*/-1.8* camber, 0 toe in front, 1/16" toe-in in the back, 7.5* caster. |

I just purchased a full set of 17x9 +22 for my s13 coupe. And my plans were to run a 255/255 setup with as little -camber as possible. Suspension mods are Megan streets coilovers and RUCA's. My front fenders are stock but my rears were trimmed. I know that it's a must that I get my front fenders rolled. But it also appears that my rears would need a little more messaging. But idk if its possible since they've already been trimmed by the previous owner. I'm guessing that a decent pull is needed in the rear by judging from the previous post.

17x9 +35 Stich Mesh
255/40/17 Toyo R888... Really would LOVE to try and run a 275/40/17 as these don't seem to work quite as good as i hoped at the power level i am at (not sure if it is cause they are used or what) Fronts are 17x8 + 35 and have a 225/40?/17 Going to be going with a slightly bigger tire next time around (235/40/17. not sure if a 245/40/17 will/can fit. Do you think i could get a 275/40/17 to fit? Or would i need a pretty major pull?

you may be able to get away without a major pull, a 275 is going to stick out about 10mm further so just measure that on your current setup and see where it sits....

Flick....It would need a decent pull on that rear for an S13. The setup I am running which is identical to my buddies and we are both in S14 chassis is:
17x8.5 +33 and 17x9.5 +30 rear. 225/45 front adn MT ET Streets 275/40/17....took a gentle pull and a slight roll on his. Havent mounted mine but imagine the same being needed. We are both on FA 500 Coils. |

I have 17x9.5 +38 275/40/17 NT05 with fender roll and pull, but it took enough rolling that the paint is cracking. Also, it is important to compare manufacturer and tire size. Nittos have good rubber compounds but run skinnier than some other brands. Some of the drag radials run wider for Mickey Thompson ET streets or others.

18x10 +30 with 285/30/18 roll and pretty good pull. Had to raise up about 1/2 inch and add 3mm spacer because tire was rubbing against inner fender on both side. Fronts are 18x9 +18 with 255/35/18. Very tight clearance to stance SS+ coilovers. |

Very nice! I'm surprised you were rubbing considering I'm running 18x11 +30 285/30 and don't rub after hammering in the inner wheel housing a little. Mine appears to be a tad bit lower too... probably where yours was before you raised it 1/2".

There was actually plenty of clearance for the lip of the wheel. But I guess a 285 on a 10 is a little porky and bulges enough to rub. If I had run a 275 it would have probably been more square with the lip. I rubbed on pretty much every bump. It was actually catching on the weld seams for the inners. I actually used your car a reference point when deciding on this setup because yours cleared wider with some hammering.

Thank you! I might have to give a 275 a try and see how it works, with any luck i'll have paint and body work done this winter so then i could do a pull.

I have a S14, stock metal rolled on all 4 corners with 18x9.75s all the way around. It has a stock rebuilt KA, Full suspension arms, Stance GR+ coils, with stretched tires (yea -_____-) I want to run the widest tires I can without sacrificing power to the KA. I was thinking 255/40/18s in the rear but not 100% sure. Would like some extra input from you Max rubber buffs.

^What if I told you width isn't everything to grip? you can have 275 nankang's and get out performed by 235 RS-3.
I would do 265/35/18 all around with that wheel setup.

this is what i think is right... looks good. should function good. and you don't have to hack up your car and beat it to death with a hammer to make em fit... this is what i am gonna do to my s14, keep in mind my will be DD, not a hardparker lol... so i need thick tires and small rims.

That's all well and good... but this is the max tire thread, and we have z and s-chassis not miatas and e30s. If you aren't running more than 245 on stock fenders you shouldn't post in this thread IMO |
