Happy New Year everyone!
Since it was a long block now it was time to bolt on the intake and exhaust sides. For the intake I decided to go with a hypertune manifold along with fuel rail and throttle body. What a beauty. Pure porn! A look inside. Fuel rail. Throttle body. Intake looking right at home. Exhaust manifold came back from coating along with the turbo exhaust housing. With the exhaust manifold I decided to go with a twin scroll option, this is made by a local company here in NZ called Sinco Customs. Turbo oil and water lines arrived, supplied by Mazworx. Turbo also arrived. I went for a Garrett GTX3071r, this should be quite responsive and meet my power goals.. Well, for now haha. This wasn't my first turbo choice. I had previously bought the Garrett GTX3067r. The only reason i changed from the GTX3067r to the GTX3071r was because of the power rating. GTX3067r maxes about 500hp and GTX3071r is about 560hp. GTX3067r vs GTX3071r. Turbo exhaust housing was also changed from open to twin scroll/ split pulse. Turbo side all bolted on and oil/ water lines routed. Since i wasn't going to run air conditioning anymore I decided to get a low mount power steering bracket made by Naprec. Naprec vs Factory. Installed. Couldn't bring myself to putting on a dirty pump so gave it a quick clean. All done. This one doesn't sit as low as some designs but it is nice and sold and not flimsy like other designs i have heard about. Put on some large Naprec power steering and water pump pulleys. |

Car show time. The 4 and Rotary nationals were right around the corner so I decided to enter the car for the show and shine as that's all its good for Haha. I was planning to at least have the engine in this time but the parts I wanted to install somehow got sent to another country.
We loaded up the car and headed down to the venue. She polished up pretty good Home time Had some awesome comments about this even though it wasn't complete, a couple of people wanting to purchase it as well Haha Engine bay time. This part of the car has been sitting un touched for a year now, time to start test fitting parts and install them back in place. Window wiper motor was dirty so needed a good clean When installing back the window wiper motor it's quite hard to get the linkage back in place on the motor. An easier way to do this is to remove back the plastic trim around the window wipers, this will give you better access to the linkage to hold in place while you bolt the motor back in place. Installed Since this was an automatic body this didn't have the holes drilled for the clutch master cylinder. I taped up around the area where I could be cutting so protect the paint. After pulling back the firewall carpet I realized that Nissan had already put marks were it needed to be drilled which was awesome Excuse the retarded looking hole Haha, it doesn't really matter because it's going to be covered anyway. The clutch master cylinder was really dirty as well so needed a clean. Installed: DEI reflect gold heat tape. I wanted to protect the paint from the exhaust downpipe for obvious reasons so decided to use this gold tape. Not much to it, just remove the back protective paper and stick it on Im not really a fan of going overboard with this stuff so I left it here for now. Once the engine is in, I can see how much more I'll need to cover up around the down pipe area |

Finally my lost package arrived from the country it got sent to
Power steering first. This kit came with everything to replace the factory lines so it was time to remove everything. All removed Dirty crossmember cleaned as well Routed the new lines Way more tidier Mounted up the reservoir and routed lines for the power steering cooler Had an idea of mounting it up front here but after some thinking I decided to mount it elsewhere shown later on Brakes next. This kit replaces all engine bay brake lines behind the dash. This was an interesting bit of kit to install Mounted up the Wildwood brake master cylinder, routed hard line and drilled hole for 3 piece/ T fitting This is what it looks like installed behind the dash Routed the brake lines to go attatch to the fender lines, drilled a hole and mounted 2 piece fitting route lines and job done This valve is used to control the brake bias Job done My Turbosmart FRP2000 arrived just in time to test fit the fuel kit. All mounted up looking good, that AN fitting fuel filter though Next up, Fluid coolers For the Radiator I decided to go with a custom PWR cross flow radiator with a 16" SPAL thermo fan, also with -AN fittings to match the billet fittings on the engine Mounted up my old Trust 13 row oil cooler salvaged from the old shell, will fix the bent fins later on Here's the Radiator, Power steering cooler and Oil cooler all mounted up |

Some work up the front was on the cards next. For a while now I noticed there was some play in the front hub bearing, not being able to buy the bearing separate and press it in i had to order some new ones. There was a few options out there but you can't beat OEM quality so a front pair were ordered
Although the studs were brand new on the hubs I chose to upgrade them to some high tensile extended gk tech ones Removing wheel studs is easy, get a old nut and wind it on, after hit it with a hammer and it'll slide out Comparison between factory and extended New studs installed Hubs installed Since the calipers were off this was the perfect time to install the gk tech brake lines I picked up on my holiday a few years back All together 😊 My new intercooler arrived from Hypertune, featuring billet end tanks and ends to suit Wiggins clamps I also finally found another 44mm red Tial Wastegate locally so picked up one All installed and ready to scream 😊 I had been waiting a long, long time for this to arrive. But i think the wait was worth it. Over in the USA I had picked up a brand new z33 cd009 transmission and had to sent over to my good friends at Mazworx. Over there it was cut up and their new bell housing installed and sent over to me I picked up the package Exciting!! Looking fresh |

For a while now I had been contemplating a new roll cage. My half cage I had installed wasn't right for my seating position, the main hoop was too far forward and it was missing a harness bar. The move was made to list it up for sale, a couple of weeks later it sold and it was removed for pickup
In preparation for the new cage the windows were removed Roof lining also went for the cage to be fabricated more tight against the body, also for additional head clearance Ready for cage After a lot of thinking a chose to go with an 8 point cage Progress, rear half complete Front taking shape Harness bar, dash bar, side intrusions and gussets welded in All done Home time, back to the garage for god knows how long Haha Last edited by EVLS14; 02-14-2017 at 10:23 PM.. |

Sorry about the lack of updates, here's what has been going on over the last few months.
With the cage built the harness bar I had made was to suit a bride seat, the sparco's sat too high so they were put up for sale. I picked up 1 new Bride Zeta III to take their place. Test fit in place, need to order rail to suit soon. With the new hypertune inlet I knew there would be some clearance issues with the master cylinder so I chose to upgrade to a tilton unit. Here's the size difference, should be enough clearance now. I picked up this billet reservoir to remote mount somewhere in the engine bay. Everything being Red, gold or black the purple manifold was looking a bit out of place. The purple anodized bits were returned and swapped for red ones. The last few bits arrived and it was time to finally time to start sorting out the engine and gearbox. The engine was taken off the stand so the nismo twin place clutch and flywheel could be bolted on. First the brass bearing was changed with a new Nismo roller bearing. Next it was the flywheels turn to be torqued down then the clutch. All done Next up, Tilton hydraulic release bearing. Unfortunately the sleeve supplied wasn't right for my clutch so another one was ordered from Tilton. Finally the sleeve arrived so clearances could be checked. All installed, I have to say it looks pretty trick but it's not going to stay this clean forever with clutch dust etc Haha. Bolted together finally. Last thing to put on the the starter motor. Was easier to bolt it on now rather then fiddling around later on. Can't put it on dirty, so it was given a good clean up. Gearbox mount ready. Only took 2 years but it's finally in 😊 Perfect fit, no tunnel smashing needed or shifter hole trimming needed Here's another engine bay shot and a view from underneath. Some more work is on the cards during the next few weeks. Fabrication is next which will mean a new down pipe, intercooler piping, 2 screamer pipes etc will be fabricated up. I will keep you guys updated when that happens. So close but so far. |

What trans crossmember is that? I've been wanting to do the z33 trans swap for a while but haven't because of the shifter location/tunnel bashing lol. Looks great!
