SR Help!! need help on passing emissions w/ sr20 in az

Alright, let me start of by saying I'm 16 and I'm new member to zilvia and I'm getting my first car soon. It is most likely going to be a S13 with a SR20DET. I have a decent amount of knowledge when it comes to S-Chassis's. I've seen some posts recent saying it is possible to get a SR20 to pass emissions in AZ. In my area, I think you have to pass a sniffer test, which I think will be easy with a stock cat and stock exhaust, and a visual inspection. I want to know if I would be able to use KA or SR FWD emissions equipment to make it look like everything is there and/or what it would take to pass this portion of the test.

I was also wondering if there's a way for an RB25 to pass, just in case I decide to do that swap later down the line.

Anybody can pass a sniffer with enough cats. Visual is another thing, all depends on how brave you are and how dumb you think inspectors are...

Ya that's one thing I'm scared of, them realizing it's a JDM engine, but I kinda doubt they will. I see SR swapped S13's on craigslist all the time with good tags. Thats why I posted this. So I can see how get mine legal when the time comes.

I guess what I would need to find out now is how I can make working (or at least look like its working) emissions equipment. If the S13 SR had EGR, what else would I need?

Run a cat first of all. Best thing to do is talk to other people in your area and see what they do and where they take their cars.

I forgot to post the other day but my friends I went to the show I was talking about with, well they dragged me out of there early so I had no chance to ask around. Is there anyone here who's from az and can tell me what's all involved in making the SR pass the visual test?

they don't care if its a jdm. some of the guys actually show interest. I pass my sr with a good cat, no egr, good gas cap and a known good charcoal canister. I live in phoenix.

True! I saw one s14/s15 SR20DE A/T tranny with EGR, the guy selling it from Hayward or Newark CA back in 2005. i wonder who bought it? He should have at least try to BAR it.

I'm an az resident. And I did not want to worry about emissions because it's too much work. If you contact me on az240 forum I'll tell you how to get around it.

I just had mine go through emissions last month.
I passed both visual and smog with flying colors.
I used my old KA24DE emissions equipment and mocked it up so it looked legit. I have a tube running from the intake to the little black bock on the equipment, and there's a hose that goes from the box to the exhaust. I used a bolt and put it in my wideband bung. I also re-installed the charcoal canister and ran a few vacuum lines to look legit. It passed with no questions asked.
