I started to wire my alternator yesterday, the 2 thick wires go together then get fused. I used an 80 amp fuse and the one wire with white/red not sure yet. This is 4 a ka24

yea i wana have my fuse boxes inside the car, i have a bunch of extra wires/connectors just tucked on the side. im tired of looking at it and going through it, so im gathering info of how/what i need to relocate both fuse box inside the car. while im doing this, i thought about tucking my engine harness and loomed (its already tucked, just needs a lil more tight)

acfanrelaybox by d_2jzgte, on Flickr

so since i dont have the pop up lights anymore, i dont need the H/L RET CONT relay, right? whats the COND FAN/ RR FOG relay, do i need it? front fog 15a fuse, is this for the front windshield fog?
my fuse box didnt come with the anti skid 20a fuse, do i need it?

i get confuse on this side, because some people only have 8 fuses left after they relocate thier fuse box.?

heres what im gona get rid in this relay box. H/L RET DOWN, both H/L RET. whats the FR FOG relay for?

also a question for the engine lower harness to fuse fox. so when i relocate the fuse box inside the car, do i extend the connectors on the lower harness that plugs into the fuse box?

yep im a noob in this whole harness game

I dont know much about wire tucking, but i do know RRfog is rear defroster, and i know that if you pull the headlight retract relays with the lights on, the lights turn off. im sure you have an fsm and arnt just blindly deleting and ripping out wires too. i know the fsm shows the headlight retract relays tying into the headlight wiring.

Im going to take a stab and guess you have an s13 silvia front, do you have dual/trip projectors? did you wire the fogs in to come on with the headlight retract button as well

just trying to help out if you overlooked anything. if you know all this stuff good, if not- hopefully it helps.

I would think you would need to extend them to get them back to the fuse box through the firewall.

They plugs will reach through the firewall, barely. You'll want to extend them unless you have the factory boxes right up where the heater core was.

Is there any place where I could purchase this style of soldering tip, but really fine?

My soldering gun is just a generic Radio Shack one. However, I find it much easier to solder with a fine tip. Thus I make my own out of copper wire, but they eventually burn through after a dozen or so uses. I am curious if there are any alternatives.

Just buy a pencil tip soldering iron. You can get a cheap one for next to nothing.

30 Watt Soldering Iron 370-010

What gauge wire are you soldering? And what are you soldering it to?

Where isn't the best place to buy "harness sleeves". I think Wayne was talking about it a few pages back.

nice tucks. I'm cleaning mine up a bit and will post a picture when I'm done.. But I just want to verify something first. I found a cut black wire coming from a 4 wire plug near the iacv. I'm guessing its supposed to be grounded. Can someone verify this for me? (its a blacktop s13 Sr)

Solid black? The only black wire I know of is black/yellow, and that's ignition-switched +12V.

yea its solid black.. And there's a solid light blue wire from that same plug that was loose. I'll double check when I get home. Its one of the two plugs that are towards the firewall next to the intake manifold. I believe one plug is for the iacv not sure about the other.

love this thread! such an inspiration.. I just completed step 1 of moving my fuse box into the cabin to neaten things up. I'll get some engine bay shots soon. Just very glad to finish the inside wiring

Relays mounted behind the cd din and fuses in the centre console.
