It's just the same stuff that the door panels are made of.

Yeah, it's the same as the door panel. Sometimes some of the glue gets stuck on there and there are 3 little holes where they vacuumed the fabric on or whatever. Much better than that tweed shit. Best free "mod" I've done to my car haha.

+nicest brown int. i've seen and wouldn't expect the s15 blue seats to work as well with it as they do..

carpet came from Auto Custom Carpets. kit comes molded too. well sort of. not as easy as dropping in an oem one but little shaping is needed. the floormats were aftermarket ones that i had them do up in teddy bear plush material, then i had em custom embroidered so they look oem.

Why do people strip interiors to that point?

For like the 2lbs you'd add in door panels and maybe another 10lbs in carpet you could just make one more horsepower and be comfortable. Just sayin.

agreed.

I've always hated gutted cars, especially when they see more street than track(sometimes no track).

reminds me of a buddy of mine in high school. completely gutted his sr-5 to pretty much just the dash and front seats. added about all the ebay bars he could find and a bazooka tube.Which pretty much weighs more than everything he took out. If any of you guys have dealt with corolla interior, shit weights next to nothing.

on the carpet kit or the floormats? the carpet kit is molded pretty accurately. it has the front seats crossmember thing molded in, the center console hump is molded, and the passenger feet areas are all molded in. you are going to need a can of 3M Trim Adhesive and a razor blade to trim the carpet. Also it is wise to save your old carpet so you can mirror the holes you need to cut to bolt in the seats and under the center console where the seat belt box, e brake, shifter is you gotta get a little creative.

the floormats are the exact same dimensions as oem. you throw them down and then smile! they even have the little rings that the oem mats have to secure them so they dont slide forward and fuck your game up.
quality/plushess, excellent and teddy bear soft. waaaaaaay nicer than 18 year old crusty mats.

heres a pic before i got it all squared away. for an aftermarket kit i was really impressed.

Isn't the carpet supposed to go over the hump?

Was it just more work than you wanted to do to get it fitting properly or just wasn't going to work at all?

yes its supposed to go over the hump. it is molded. as opposed to a flat piece of carpet you have to mold yourself. and i got it to fit nicely.....i posted pics ^^^^ up there somewhere. but here it is again.

the door sill, fuse box, ecu, and a few other areas havent been finished yet (DAMN RAIN!) but it still looks nice. just gotta trim and glue in place and im done.

depends on if they track the car or not. it wont pass tech because the panels and carpet are a fire hazard.

material for which? the carpet kit only comes 1 way, but has additional option ($75 more) for mass backing. i went with standard backing. the floormats come in standard or *plush* i forget how much more plush is but its worth it. and no worries about askin questions man thats what the forum is for. im just glad to see people dig what im doin in my driveway with a less than adequate tool collection. well the interior is on me. my dads a master tech for Mercedes so he helps me under the hood.

this is definately the way to go if you wanna get rid of your old crusty cum stained interior. between the floormats and carpet i spent about $500 shipped. if you want i can pm you info on where i got it.
