180SX Type X Build! Canada Eh? Serious Street Car Build.
uild thread.
Figured I would start a proper build thread! My name is Dylan, Im 22, and live in Hamilton, ONTARIO CANADA! I have been a avid car enthusiast since a child, and got into cars "for real" when I was 14 with my first car, a 88 Isuzu I-Mark LS Turbo. I did a starion front mount, greddy type s, rice exhaust. Then a bunch of hondas, including the first RHD Swapped EF civic in Canada(did it when I was 15 or 16) then alot of escorts, 323's, proteges then miatas, FB RX7's and a S13, galant vr4, talons. Was a miata man for a long time, then bought another s chassis. Basically, I have tried everything with a enthusiast behind it. Now I work part time at a sign shop and work on my own vehicles, friends cars and do lots of part outs of unfinished projects, rust buckets etc to fund my car hobby. Since then, I have gotten into "nicer" cars. Here are a few. The Silver Silvia was a DD of mine. My latest build worth mentioning is my 1997 Nissan 240SX, which has gone over many stages in the last year and a half, including 2 engines, paint ideas, aero, suspension, exhaust and interior. This is it , in its most recent "look" Got alot of coverage in local groups, online and some photos in magazines. I purchased a Silvia Q's with 40k for a build, compiled a ton of parts, then.... sold the car, and all the parts to a friend. That car is nearing completion in my shop right now. and then... Flew across Canada to Calgary ALBERTA to buy THIS: Then drove it to BC to visit, then across country back to Ontario in mid april 2012 Should be good right? WRONG. Snap snowstorm/icestorm/closed main artery highways for 3 days, fuck it im going anyways/r comps are for snow! Thunder Bay Ontario. 400hp fully done 180sx was alot of fun! did some skids.... then built a zenki for a friend with some spares.... and this for a missle, because at this point "im building the 180"(note, while looking "nice" the car was VERY rusty) then about 20 hard wall taps, and some fun and then some parting out.... then this car took its drivetrain (thanks matt!) then another event.... then another..... Came 1st out of 21 cars! Celebratory burnout! ANDDDD NOW... (SEE EARLY SUMMER 2012) I decided to rip the 180 apart for good, and build it with the same care and course as I did my kouki! Planning my options for the drivetrain. My plans with this car is: make it sick. I collected a bunch of sweet parts for the SR (see Greddy rad, Blitz oil cooler) but im going a different route. I cant wait to get the body perfect, un shit the quarter panels as previous owner wasnt very good at pulling the quarters. Paint mint like the kouki, and basically make the same car, just a 180. Ive already lined up a engine+transmission for the build, and purchased a complete JDM 180SX Type X Aero Kit for the car, to replace the replica version select stuff. Im picky as hell and I like the oem front. Ive also got a complete S15 dash swap which I am also excited to do, along with floor mounted pedals, air jcks and some other cool stuff, including tubbing the front end, and radiusing the frame. Geomaster 2's are also in the cards. Seeing as I was car-less for the last 2 events, I drove my kouki which I still owned at the time and this super budget SR Coupe. FALL 2012 UPDATE: FALL 2012 Bit the Miata Bug again, purchased a new "parts car" for the 180. Bought a wild kouki, with a pumped up LS1 Swap. Makes 425hp! Check out the Eunos Culprit Car for getting me back into miatas....broke my missile and drove friends gf's miata! Had to make sure it was good before I took her apart! Day I got it! Replacement SR20DET Sorry guys hahahaha Drove across canada for the eunos tip When I got back ... I started to work on the 180 that has sat in the middle of the shop for 6 months doing nothing! SinceTook the motor out last july and sold almost everything off it, leaving it a shell First was tubs! Next update!

First was tubs! Next update!
Cutting my trailer fenders I purchased (10 3/4 inch, etrailer.com) Mocked up Swapped over a S15 hood cable to match my dash conversion (shown a bit later) me being a bozo Otherside... Welding commences! Using some high grade steel (see wrecked S13 hood) to make the side panels. Cheap and better stuff then I could buy at the metal mart! My friend Mike (did some of the welding, hes much better than I am!) I decided to leave the square edge and keep the tubs very forward so I could have a nice seam on the otherside, and be able to plug weld the edge, versus buttwelding. Plus I figured it would be stronger! Shout out to Bill at RONDEX STONEY CREEK! Always has what I need, quality product, great service and wicked pricing and smart as hell! Thanks Bill! Billion coats of zinc coat (for bare metal, welded edges) Bodywork soon! Goodies CHECK ERA-1 Knuckles F+R, Tein Tension rods, SPL Ti Multilink! S15 Dash! Sweet! (remember the cable I put in!!?) Check out the RACEPAK too! Tired of searching, I bought mine new! Another look at the ERA-1 Kit! thanks ERA-1! Carbing cooling plate, vertex wheel, NISMO Horns, YES NISMO! and some fresh B forces for up front (Z33 rotor, 32 Calipers, JSK Adapters) Had these forever(someone made them)+OG Nismo Belt Slips Bought a BNIB Koyo rad for R32 Skyline for a great deal from my friend Zac. Also see the fact I forgot to take progress photos of me doing the bodywork on the tubs, derp. Wheels! Guess what they are!!?!?! |

Got this to fix my clutch master to V8 clearance issue... My frien Adam Kube helped with this, due to his motorsport backround and fabrication of openwheel cars. He managed to make me a bolt in pedal for a RHD 180sx, (just clutch) from this Tilton pedal box! Thanks man!
emerg This guy (liam, cefiro guy,god of internet, jetsetter, thug) bought some seats off me! |
