^ that is really clean ichiban4. Its seems alot of people I know around my area dont give a crap about the inside of their 240s. I am now in the process of fixing what was done by the PO of my car.

I did. Came out about 90-95% as well as I wanted. Next application could go much smoother. Not bad at all though, and yep a DIY kit. 2 cans of flock covered the dash pretty thoroughly. Nice and soft.

I'm looking for some good looking black carpet floormats for my daily s13. Does anyone know of any aftermarket ones? Weapon r floormats are discontinued and I don't want to buy another set of dmax mats for my daily. Any input would be awesome.

Soooo dirty sorry, but I installed my AEM Gauges. Will take legit photos when I have time to clean it and buy a passenger seat.
I kind of want a 340mm Classic in silver. Oh well, Deep Corn is still fine. Need to address my hub situation first. D-Wolrd for s0ap.

This is the interior thread
Two questions for you interior dudes.
1) What adhesive should I use to rewrap my headliner? And do I have to peel off the oem fabric? Can this adhesive be used on plastic trim pieces too? 2) What should I use to dye my oem carpet black? I want dye that won't come out onto my shoes when it gets wet or something. I also wanna dye my rear seats black. So that can't bleed either.

^I JUST did both of these over the last few days. For the headliner I used a fabric called legacy black 7M sold by Phoenix Trim and Supply. Not exactly like the stock felt type material but close enough. They also had the foam backed stuff but wasn't into that.
Yes you should rip off the oem fabric and sand it smooth. It's not that hard to do. Just be careful not to break the headliner. For the adhesive I tested some stuff called Fast Tack 92 high-temp trim adhesive (white can) and 3m Super 90 (green can). With the Super 90 it didn't take much to rip the fabric off the surface I glued it to. With the Fast Tack I had to get out the heat gun because it was so tough to pull the fabric off. Definitely get two cans of the Fast Tack if you can and try to focus on the corners and contours in the headliner... this is where the fabric will want to pull away from the headliner over time. Be sure to let the adhesive sit for a few minutes so it becomes tacky or the adhesive might bleed through the fabric. If you notice it's too thick in some areas just go over it with a toothpick or something to thin it out a little. It's best to get the fabric on without any stretch but some slight stretching might be required in certain areas. I laid the fabric in 3 sections starting from back to front and it definitely helps to have a friend hold the fabric out of the way for you. Yes the adhesive can be used on trim pieces. For my OEM carpet I first vacuumed and cleaned it with 2 cans of Tuff Stuff carpet cleaner then rinsed it twice with a hose. I used 2 cans of SEM satin black color coat aerosol and let that dry overnight. I tried brushing the carpet as I was spraying but the paint clumped up so quit with that. The next day I ran my hands through the carpet and was able to soften it up a bit although it was pretty soft to begin with. I wouldn't paint the rear seats. The seat fabric is a bit different than the carpet and will look like crap. Save up for S15 rear seats if you must have black rear seats. Or could try removing the fabric from the seat and use RIT dye on it. I have no experience with the RIT stuff but might be worth a shot. Last edited by az_240; 02-03-2014 at 03:00 AM.. |

Here are some pics of the carpet. I can take some of the headliner if anyone is interested.
Before After Was thinking about going with a S15 carpet or stockinteriors.com but my carpet was still in great shape so figured I'd give this a shot. I'll post some shots of everything in the car when I get around to finishing the interior up. Last edited by az_240; 02-03-2014 at 02:55 AM.. |
