speedometer and tachometer move together

did a sohc to dohc swap. swapped out guage clusters and body harness too. when my cars running my speedometer moves with my tachometer. my temp guage doesn't seem to be working either and I don't know about the fuel guage. has anyone ever had this problem? bad wiring job or could it be the cluster?

i dont know where the wiring problem can be at. the only thing i touched that might have fucked it up was the body connector. I only wired the 5 wires needed, could I have messed up something there that would effect the cluster.

when you swaped out the sohc cluster with the dohc cluster you didnt change the wiring for the dohc cluster. hit up the fsm for the dohc and sohc and wire it to the correct pin out for the dohc cluster

I don't understand. Aren't the tachometer and speedo supposed to move in synch when you're in gear? What exactly are the gauges doing?

i dont know why i didnt check this before, but the reason they are moving together is because my cars still in gear in neutral. what can cause this? i only have half my driveshaft connected and when in neutral it spins. When I press the clutch in the driveshaft stops.

the idle is really fucked too, im guess my timing is screwed cus it revs up very slowly like it has no power

Holy Thread Resurrection!

Hey guys,

I know it's a long shot, but I'm here to see if wrxn240 was ever able to find a resolution to his issue with the speedo and tach being in-sync. I drive a 2004 Acura TL that was swapped to a 6-speed manual this past summer. Everything worked fine electrically until last week when I had to replace the manual transmission with another one (long story).

After the replacement, my car thinks it is always in gear. Mechanically, it is in neutral, but I still get seatbelt and parking brake warnings on the dash (which should only appear when in gear). Additionally, the speedo and tach move in unison (just like wrxn240). If I push the clutch in, they longer move in together, and the speedo just sits at '0'. My cruise control also does not work properly. It turns on, but won't set the speed.

I'm hoping these issues are all related. Any help whatsoever would be awesome. Thanks!
