was thinking about a 2" drop, does anyone know who makes 2" lowering springs for a 92 240sx and a cheap place to pick some up? money is a big concern, I even thought about cutting the springs

Bro...your better off getting some of those "low boyz" coilovers before you cut springs.. Good things come to those who wait. As far as 2" springs go...I believe the Eibach Sportlines are right up your alley?

The sportlines do put you that low, and they are like $130, but they suck, for how low they are, the spring rate sucks, you bottom out constantly, pain in the ass all day long, impossioble to get the amopunt of adjustment you need to fix your neg. camber, I hate mine.

I have a 93 SE with the KYB AGX and Arospeed 2" Springs which i got for $119 . I am happy with them, my car has almost no bounce at all and although they are not extremely hard they are good enough for my driving. A friend of mine has the sportlines and his car is way bouncy, but i think it may also have something to do with his KONI shocks..

Do you know if they give the same problems for the S14? What is the spring rate on the sportlines and what shocks/struts did you use?
I'm trying to find springs w/ a nice 1.5 drop, semi-stiff spring w/ a progressive rate. I know H&R has all these qualities but are they a nice even drop?

I am almost positive that they are the same for the S14, if I am wrong, Hipposleek has the lowdown on suspension, One of my main mistakes is I used my OEM struts, which are now blown as hell. I personally havent had much experience with the H&R springs, but from what I have heard they arent too shabby, hopefully Hipposleek can go deeper into this for you, Lates

For just a decent, comfy, lowered ride, the prokits probably fit the bill, however due to their progressive design I don't think they would fit into the performance category. Additionally, even though they are an inch lower, their rates do not increase proportionally. The quoted spec is only like 5 lb/in stiffer in initial travel and *maybe* 140 lb/in (actual rate)when stiff. Somewhere on this board there is a list of spring rates that someone put togther but at the currents time I can't find it.

As for the boucy ride with konis, either they are not turned up enough or they blew out due because the springs were too low.

WEST created a list under the archives but he didn't list stock S14, H&R, nor Eibach...I think I'll end up getting H&R springs unless I here something bad about them...either that or coilovers.

240 2NR has the exact idea I have - right down to why the Koni's bounce (BTW: are they yellows?). SL's are notorious for destroying dampers and handling like a$$. The spring rates are in the FAQ section.

Dunkee - yup, same problem for s14's. Unless you are running expensive short stroke dampers, you will have the same problems. But to buy $750 w/ of dampers and put Sportlines would be a crime that only one person I know would dare commit.

As for all the shout outs for cheap springs, you have to consider what your purpose is. If you are getting springs so your car will look better and you don't care if it handles like a '77 Impala I guess about any brand will do.

If you are looking for performance, you have some tough decisions to make. There are a few major obsticles here 1) the 240 doesn't like to be lowered more than 1.5" (camber); 2) most shocks will not really allow more than 1.5" of lowering (travel); 3) especially for the s14, there is no middle of the road - you either have near stock, crap, or high quality. All this means that if you want performance and 2" lowering, you WILL spend at least $1000.
