My 200sx ps13 build (lots of pics)
Just introduced myself on these forums so I might as well post my project ps13 up here.
I live in the Netherlands and bought the car in Germany with only 85.000kms (about 52k miles) on the clock but the big end bearings had gone allready and so the engine was stuck. I completely stripped the car in search of rust. It is a very common problem with the 200sx's in Europe, fortunately virtually no rust turned up at all, not even under the standard wing which is quite rare, the car must have been kept indoors during its life in Germany. All good news . ca18det went out And stripped Picked this out of the oil pan jammed rod Got some oem silvia s13 skirts, bomex type1 mirrors and fitted kouki rear lights and panels. tomei steering wheel with hkb hub I sold the ca18 in parts and bought another 200sx in Germany, this time a low mileage full option but side damaged 1998 s14a which came with the sr20det. I sold the rest of the car in parts and actually made a profit, so I got the engine/gearbox, full loom, differential and brakes for free. This is what was left of the car when I was done stripping it of bodywork and bits. Ordered a lot of parts from Japan and picked them up from the Rotterdam harbour In Japan just outside of the rhdjapan office In Holland The box was also filled with rims to sell on and fund the shippingcosts and project a bit. Work Ewing rims, 3-piece LP-cast spun rim 17x8et34, they cost me 67,- euros for all four in Japan Also fitted here are the JIC FLTA-2 coilovers and JIC bullet catback exhaust Partially resprayed the engine bay Last edited by R@tch; 08-25-2009 at 09:50 AM.. |

Fitted OS-giken twinplate clutch/flywheel
New Nissan flywheel bolts. Nismo clutch slave cylinder and brake fluid line. Nismo clutch fork pivot, also fitted new nissan bearrings Tomei 3pt strutbrace that proved to be a complete pain to fit later because of the high s14 intake manifold and vvt bump in the rocker cover. New clutch line, brake lines and s14 bmc fitted. By now the engine bay looked like this Koyo copper 3 layer radiator, HKS type-s fmic, HKS intake..... Sard fpr/meter and oil catch tank, bosch fuel filter Apex'i solenoid for power fc boost kit and some altered intercooler piping, the engine was running by now. Fitted recaro sr seat, it will move to the passenger side and replaced with a recaro spg. I picked the spg up for only 75,- euro's from this guy who had used it in a rally pulsar gti-r, still looks like new. Custom battery box Silvia s13 front end testfit Oem aero front bumper, my custom front lip blends together with the silvia skirts verry well I think. painted the dials red The tomei strut-brace didn't fit, found out the Nismo engine mounts raised the engine, so I bought these GT-spec engine mounts from Japan. Some interesting facts, standard engine mounts: 68mm thick, weight1,45kg Nismo: 72mm thick, weight 1,90kg Gt-spec: 48/58/68mm thick, weight 0.8kg (with 1 spacer) The washer fluid container would'nt fit because of the intercooler piping so I chopped it, melted an old soap bottle around the hole and sealed it. Ah, its always nice when a package from Japan comes in, bought this ancient but barely used complete Blitz k3t turbo kit.
It utilizes a German Borg Warner kkk blitz spec K3T 3070mga turbo, bottom mount blitz cast iron manifold blitz c42 external wastegate and some nice original heat shields. This kit was modified so that the wastegate dumped back into the exhaust system. I thought it was super nice but unfortunately the LHD steering rod was in the way. Now it will get a screamer pipe which I still need to get made (I can't weld). Test fitted After modifying the pipe that leads to it the wastegate clears the steering rod by about 1,5cm. I also fitted some gauges to monitor the engine I'm actually still searching for instructions to fit the Tomei egt and A/F gauges. New wheels, Work vs-xx 17x8et10 front 17x9et22 the inner arches will need rolling, but no outward rolling. Tires are 215-45-17 225-45-17 New red silicone hoses frow viper performance (notice the tomei strutbrace diagonal still doesn't fit at the intake manifold) exchanged the Mocal oil cooler for a Setrab one with AN fittings I will be getting the power fc mapped to run the engine on E85 in the future so I got Sard 850cc injectors that will replace the current 555cc nismo items Cars out of the garage with the rs13 on its new rims Started prep work to polish the greddy intake mani (Of course I test fitted it and the tomei strutbrace finally fits, whoohoo) Its modified for the use of a q45 throttlebody, here compared to the s14 one Next department I will be looking into are the brakes, mod list so far: Engine Mods 1998 S14a sr20det Blitz cast iron exhaust manifold Blitz type C-42 external wastegate Blitz k3t turbo Tomei 256in 256ex poncams Tomei rocker arm stoppers HKS type-s fmic Blitz, HKS, Greddy intercooler piping. I got all excited when I saw the CA18.
Then I cried as if Megan Fox was brutally mutilated, when you said it was sold.

Hahaha, sorry about that, in europe the s13 only came with the ca18det and I wanted to be a bit different plus the engine is just a lot younger. In Canada it must be different having a ca18.

At first, I was thinking "Good god, look how fucking clean this car is. Something's going to happen though, I know it..."
Then, saw this: I personally would have left it alone just because of how ridiculously awesome the condition of it is, but it does look very promising. Just get the parts paint matched and you'll be set. Definitely a nice build. |

Thanks, as for not keeping it original. I was kinda expecting comments on that, and you're probably right. I'm a bad person , all metal silvia panels I used are in very good condition as well though, so when they're professionally painted everything will be ok (I hope)

i was loving it till i saw the Sil front.
But judging by how the nice the engine bay is done up, I have a feeling that this will be one of those.. "Yea its a sil-80, but it looks good. weird." Engine bay looks awesome.

I see a spoiler in one picture, but not the others. Hopefully you are planning to add something similar. In my opinion (and that is all it is, my OPINION) the fastback needs a Wangan style wing to attempt to "square off" the rear end. The stock rear end is too rounded to flow with the very blocky Silvia Aero front you are using.
Looks to be a very clean job thus far though.

This wing would look perfect on it.
Not massive like all the other Wangan wings. |

I allready have the 'giant' b-wave one .
I'm thinking about a way of mounting it so that I can remove it at any given time I want without showing any holes in the lid, I got inspiration from a HKS kansai s14 wing I purchased for someone, it was mounted with brackets that wrap around the outer edges on the trunk lid. To finish off the back I also have some rear aprons lying around, exactly the same as these; I personally never really liked the look of the oem kouki aprons. Together with the front-lip and wing they will be the only frp parts on the car. edit, forgot about the bomex mirrors not sure if I'll keep those though. car is very clean I am not going to hate on you even though I am not a sil80 fan I can already see yours looking really nice with paint. I think you should go back to the old wheels though but sweet ride motor is very legit

Thanks all for the kind comment and the sceptical ones as well
@busteds13, you're absolutely right, imagine one of those plates in the front blocking the oil/inter cooler. I think just about everybody who's into cars hates them over here. By chance I picked up a 240sx rear bumper just yesterday. I have not registered the car in the Netherlands yet. But when I do by fitting the 240sx rear bumper I hope to be getting a note on the registration papers that allows me to legally (you'll get a ticket otherwise) use smaller ones, the same size as on my gt-r. They have to do that for imports from Japan and the US with the smaller inserts. I'll just say the car came with that bumper and pray they will fall for it . |

Yea, different as in everybody shakes their head at you.
With the amount of JDM imports here, everyone is rockin an SR in their S13's. CA swaps are barely worth more than a KA in Canada.
