I don't get it? I thought cylinder washdown was due to running rich / too many cold starts and the fuel dilutes the oil that is on the cylinder walls. From what I understand, Rotella is API SL/SJ/SH rated for use in gasoline engines as well was diesel engines. I searched around and could find only one case where Rotella was only thought to be the cause of cylinder washdown, never proven. On top of that, many of the turbo subie guys also run this oil with no problems... unless there's something I missed?

Allot of the vw guys run the stuff also.

I made a thread about it on BITOG and had nothing but praise for using the stuff on turbine vehicles and pushrod motor guys running flat tappet camshafts.

mmm.. i used to work @ a factory that was outsourced to make fram filters... after making quite a few batches myself... i wouldn't exactly use them. i've always sticked to mobil1.

basically what i did before i got promoted was arrange the paper, clip it, then stick it in glue... then play with the paper BY HAND to make it space out evenly, then load it up to get cured. after that, just load em up, and ship em out o.O this was when i was a senior in HS so... about 4 years ago. i guess the price really reflects quality in this case.

Last time I had a Fram filter it was clogged.

Not so fun having to take out the oil filter, shaking and blowing it out right when I got off the night shift. Oil on lips is not cool.

I stick to Mobil 1 now.

Although, I still use Castrol GTX on my old ass Celica though, shit runs like a champ, LOL.

I hope nobody takes the story about only changing your filter seriously. It may be true that oil in street cars don't get hot enough to break down and just get dirty, but the biggest reason to change your oil is because it gets contaminated mostly from left over gas in the cylinders when you turn the motor off and drips down into the pan. But I do agree with racepar1 about not being cheap with the life blood of your motor.

Personally I use Synpower with a FRAM filter.

Royal Purple 10-30 Just from personal preference over the years.

Used to run only purone filters in all my cars, let my friend talk me into a fram last oil change stupid descision back to pureone.

Pure one filter with Castrol GTX 10w-40 for me. Cheap and has always worked great on my Nissans.

My BMW on the other hand uses stupid Castrol TWS 10W-60 at $12/qt only sold at the dealership. Ugh. Hello $90 oil changes...
