my friend has a ebay header on his sohc, we had to hammer the hell out of it to clear the steering rack

How long ago was the header bought? Maybe it was a flawed older design? *shrugs*

I have a DOHC so I cant compare with mine. Mine fit perfect all around.

I bought a used Hotshot for $50

EGR was cut... that was annoying fixing but I guess it was worth it :|

im just about to get one... im wondering about getting header wrap how much do u need like 50 feet? to wrap the whole thing? where and how much.. two reasons... keep engine bay temps down (especially near bmc as itll be track car) and... less noise id assume with it being taped

Ceramic coated headers (AKA DC, and maybe some other brands) don't need to be wrapped, as they don't release as much heat as your cast iron or stainless manifolds. BMC isn't in harm's way unless you have a top mount setup. Of course, I can't tell you how much difference in temp the brake fluid will change (being a track car, that's important of course), but I would imagine it wouldn't be enough to worry about. Its not going to be less noisy, because unless it's made of beer cans, it will be thick enough not to make any extra noise under the hood.

Wrapping the header causes it to stay hotter longer, which can make the welds fail prematurely. They may not fail for years, but it's just something to think about. The wrap also retains moisture, which could make rust a problem.

Just some things to think about.

And if you have connections, ceramic coating is cheap to do to an ebay header

i have a a stainless steel ebay headers 4-2-1 and it doesnt clear the steering rack and the o2 sensor is a pain to try to install. I have a pacesetter 4-1 fit perfectly. but now i have a twin cam with some ebay ss headers and they fit perfect. they stole the design from hotshot
