Are valve shims rocker arm specific? Or can you use any working sr20 rocker arm?

Depends on how you break stuff and which ones you break. Redline's situation is about as extreme as it gets.

Not sure how to answer this one... if you are doing solid 'lifters' like you lead on, you need to measure each shim clearance and order the correct size to match each valve. If you already measured and now are using a different rocker arm, I would recommend re-measuring both shim clearances corresponding to the replaced rocker.

I'm actually switching back to hydraulics. Does it still matter?

Good choice. Not sure on the question though, I don't know how to go about clearancing shims for HLAs.

Yeah maybe when I'm a bit more mechanically inclined/ have the funds I'll take another shot at solid lifters. Thanks

After it warmed up though, the light will go on and off. at ~2K RPM there is a weird ticking nose that sounds like it's coming from the middle of the engine. I really hope its not the oil pump. Any ideas?

If your oil light is on and it's ticking, it's shot.

Can you mix them? Sure they will work. Will it be ok? Not at all.

They are non specific if you are using new or can reshim the head.

So you got an ARGON set up to weld a firewall in? Cool. You'll need .035 - .045 wire, heavy stuff. You ARE welding outside first, then inside, right? Since you are welding to C Pillar and frame, the heavy wire will also give a little less flex

Dude, its a 10mm difference. Its not gonna make a huge difference. Might as well just flip a coin.

350mm would make steering slightly more responsive

I have a 340mm nardi classic and a friend of mine has the 350mm classic. Even just the 10mm is a surprising difference i thought. 360mm is way too big IMO.

Grip royal is lame. They take chineese wheels, paint them an obnoxious color, then sell them to scene kids.

Hey guys, noob here...

These still seem to be doing fine, how bad are these cracks on my coils? Is this something I should definitely put at the top of my list for getting replaced?

Thanks

From my understanding of it, (I'm no mechanic) they are the same but the gear ratios are different. Can't tell you any more than that, sorry.

Ok so I have a 89 SOHC 240 coupe and need to find out info on the engine relay ? fuse box thats behind the battery on the passenger fender well. Can I just replace the box itself and solder/shrink wrap the wires to a new one or can i just detach this part of the harness itself and keep it moving with a known good? Can't use/don't want to use current box due to cracked/melting(both the box and a few wires not a lot, bout 3-4 of em in that location alone)/getteo jerry-rigging to jump the stater(Clutch interlock relay issue that will be fixed the right way when sourced). Images can be seen here if need be. http://zilvia.net/f/tech-talk/530321...ires-help.html

Resale value of a car that has been DD'd?(Daily Drifted) Niggah Puh LEEZ! If you think your 240SX is going to be worth more with one steering wheel over another, well, you are right...to a kid who doesn't know any better. Unless your car is restored/restomodded from front to rear, top to bottom, with good high quality aftermarket parts, great paint, great interior, it will still be a 5000 - 6000 240SX. Only the most righteous built, totally restored cars that have been COMPLETELY rebuilt go for more than $6k.
Your coil dropped, body kitted, adjustable RUCA, bolt on car isn't really worth all that at the end of the day because just one more bolt on 240sx with a heh heh heh fancy steering wheel.
Bottom line, that steering wheel adds jack shit to overall value
Reality school's out for the day, get back to work!
