Alright guys trying to address my traction issues now that my car is tuned and am looking into drag radials for better traction. Nothing outrageous just 350whp on a DD dyno with a 2871r setup.

Anyhow my current set up is 17x9 +22 front with 215/45/17 falken rt615 and 17x10+22 with 235/40/17 faken rt615 (I know, I know). I bought them years ago, without really knowing what I was getting.

I like the MT E/T streets, but don't know if 275/40/17 will fit on the back due to the offset of my rims? If they would I would move the 235's up front? Does anybody have any experience with fitting the 275 on a similar spec'd wheel?

Also I am open to any other suggestions/recommendations. I really want to to try and use the rims I have currently. The car is not a my daily, so I am not to concrned with wear. I thought about buying a spare set of rims to mount the drag radials on, but am also concerned with traction on the street.

I also thought about the Nittos in 245/45/17, but don't know if they would be ideal for traction on a 17x10. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you really want traction get a pair of 15s, good rubber, and soft springs.

Thanks mate.
The cars used for just time attack here.

Im on -1.5 camber rear and -3.5 front
Caster is about 8 degrees

Does anyone know what the max tyre size i'd be able to run with +50mm rear over fenders?
I'll be running a 18x10.5 +15 rim

315 or 305 would probably be ideal.

I agree^ You could do some calculations for yourself

You could use this to start out with to kind of see where you're at Online Wheel & Tyre Fitment calculator. Offset, Tyre stretch and Rolling Radius calculator

But a 305 should fit easily

That was the exact answer I was looking for!

What would u guys recommend for fronts?

Ill be running 17x9.5 +12 with 40mm overs

I love my square setup, but doubt 305's will go on the fronts

I running 18x9 +18 up front with +20mm fenders and with a 255/35 its really close to my stance coils but doesnt rub. So a 265 on a 9.5 should clear about the same depending on tire choice.

I'm getting new wheels and tires very soon for my ls1 s14 stock body. I was thinking Enkei rpf1's 17x9+22 with hankook ventus rs-3 255/40 all around. I'm pretty sure I want to go with this square setup. Car will be used for street, autocross, and prob some other random shit. I just need conformation that the fronts will fit and not rub on the coilovers. Im quite sure it won't but would love some confirmation.

Any suggestions are welcome as well!

They should clear both front and rear without much massaging in the rear. Perhaps a roll and some cambering in will work just fine. The fronts "should" clear if you have slotted top knuckle holes. I'm unsure how much clearance you will have if you don't, but it will be minimal.

I have 10" wheels in the rear with 285's and +38mm offset, I rolled my rears for the needed clearance. You'll stick out 3mm more with the 9's at +22mm.

I don't have slotted top knuckle holes. I know the distance from the tire to coilover will be very close. But I'm crossing my fingers that it will work lol. what do you have on the front?

also, I plan on running between 1 and 1.50 degrees of camber in the rear. Your tires are a lot wider on the rear so maybe all I'll only have to roll the fenders?

I have 9's up front with a +23 offset. However, my KW's have slotted upper knuckle holes, so I can get more clearance.

Okay thanks for the info! I guess I'll just have to do it and find out. Worst case scenario I'll have to get a small spacer up front but that's not a big deal. Although I would like for them to just fit with no spacer.

anyone have any experience with RE050A's?

I let my friend barrow my rear wheels/tires for Mazfest this last weekend, he said it started to get slippery on him.(18x10+38 275/35/18) when it got too hot, the tire mfg. date is 4511[still good tires] and wondering if that's just normal RE050A thing or not.

Thanks.

IMHO I hate anything that comes from Bridgestone, especially the RE050A Potenzas. Sure, the rubber may last a few years and may be drivable all season, but for high speed grip, or grip in general, this tire is complete shit.

The feel of the tire is also shit when comparing to other competing brands (Continental, Michelin, Nitto) with a heavier price tag.

The tires are noisy.
Way too noisy after 15K miles, at least they were for me.

I'm assuming you have the run flats, which I previously had on my S13 coupe.

Hated them.

With a passion.
So badly.

Michelin Pilot Spot 2 or 3 are pretty damn good, which I approve over almost anything besides Nitto.

^ ditto to what this guy said.

Hated them after 5K miles, but were too expensive to replace until they were worn.

Glad I'm not the only one with such grip problem.

I will say though that they are fairly quiet, but can't really tell in a 240 anyways. LOL

Anybody finding wiiide tire deals lately?

I'm looking for 295's or wider. I'll even take 335's.

I have a 265/35 on an 18x10 +18 with a 30mm overfender, and about -2.5 of camber is the least I could do, without having the tire right up against the overfender. (wanted -1.5)

Just add the 20mm difference in our overfenders sizes, and that should help you out.

Here's my Z!

Sitting on lowering springs for now, BC coils should be ordered soon

Setup out back is 18x10+15 BSA 215s with Goodyear 275/45s on slight rolled fenders. Fitment looks pretty good for stock body IMO

Can I fit 18x10.5 +22 with 285/35 in rear and 18x9.5 +20 with 255/40 in front?
Got BC coils and 35mm overfenders all around. If I can't can you please tell me offsets to fit? Ty

You might need a spacer in the front, but depends on the coilovers.

well, plug these numbers into offset calculator.
my rear wheels are 18x10+38 with 275/35/18, tucking about 3/8th of tire, fender is pulled 3/4th inch, 0 camber. Just off my head, you shouldn't have any problem fitting that with 35mm over fenders. Front's you'll need about 5mm spacer to clear the coilovers, because my 9.5+15's are about as dangerous as it gets. LOL and step down on the side wall there, because the 255/40's are going to be super tall.

quick question

17x9

+25 offset

will a 245/40 or 45 tire fit up front?

and that's the car being as stanced as possible.

i had a 17x9.75 +25 with a 245/40 tire, and i couldn't get it to fit. even with a 10mm spacer, it hit the coils.

Depends on the coil.

That's what I run in the front of my hatch. It fits fine for me.

it seems somewhat difficult to run a 255/35 on a low offset 18x9.5 in the front of a s14, but I see many people run 17x10's and 17x9.5 with 255/40's in the front without an issue.

According to this calculator a 255/40r17 has the same width and overall height as a 255/35r18.
Tire Dimensions Made Simple - Discount Tire

I'm going to run a 18x9.5 +15 up front and a 18x9.5 +22 in the rear with 255/35r18 all around but I think I may have to use a 235/40 in the front for fender clearance..
