I'm driving a red 240, and I wanted to change my front side markers (yellow) with red ones from the rear of a 240.  I found the parts for a #### of a lot less then your clear markers.

But is it legal to run red lights on the front half of your car???  The whole emergency vehicle thing.

I believe it's legal as long as you don't project emergency-color light from your car (i.e. headlights). You might wanna contact a police station and ask them. Good luck!

its illegal, and you'll get a ticket for it if you get stopped by a hardass cop.  i've got clear front turnsignals, and i avoid using them if i see a cop.  must be orange on the front, red on the back.  front turnsignals must be orange, rear can be red or orange.  no size restrictions.  remember, the side are only required to be reflector, so you could just remove the bulb so that the orange isnt so noticeable

I'm sorry guys, in the Chicagoland area, they don't care as long as your headlights are not blue or red, so I just assumed that the law is the same all over the place. My boyfriend has blue turn signals, never got pulled over by a cop.

check local police like everyone else suggests....... Michigan law legal FRONT clear or orange,  legal REAR red or orange
illegal FRONT red or blue (emergency vehicles only), illegal REAR clear or blue
it gives the cops a reason to pull u over

I know, no offence to anyone else whom has posted, but I'm going with you.

Thanks, I think I'm just going to remove those bulbs.

But I do have clear turnsignals on the bumber lights, but I have only been questioned by West Van cops.  But they have the attority of a metermaid in North Van.

You really need to check it out with the local authorities.
Im from cincinnati, and a friend of mine has clear tail and blue leds in his headlight housings.  He lives in Kentucky, and its legal there, but I believe the leds are illegal in Ohio.  Some cops let him off because he's a KY resident, some cops will cite him since hes driving in OH with them (but he still won't take them out).  It really depends on how anal the cop decides to be, and it depends on the state laws.

to be perfectly honest, I wouldn't even take out the lenses.  Just be polite when you get stopped, and you shouldnt have any problems.  Or you could put in clear lenses with an orange bulb.  That way, when you're driving, it looks legal, but when your car is stopped, it looks clear.

The fine is $78 in Vancouver, I think.

Hey Konkman... why not just go to your neighbourhood Mercedes dealer and pick up clear sidemarkers from the ML320 (their Stupid Ugly Vehicle)... they are 14 bucks Canadian... dirt cheap and an almost perfect fit... at least these are legal... and look hot IMHO...
