2/3 piece wheel question

im shopping around for wheels and i found a set of vielside 3pc wheels. i was talking to some people on a local site, and this is a guys response about the topic.

i was wondering what you guys all thought about it.

Quote:
Honestly, I wouldn't do it.

I'm not big on 2 piece wheels to begin with.

You're not afraid of them failing?

The Kelsey haynes 70's steelies were a two piece wheel. They are different than those construction but are widely considered deathtraps
my original question was about taking the face of the wheel off for powdercoating.

if this is in the wrong section, mods please move.

Taking the faces off to powdercoat is an age-old tradition. Even with 3-piece wheels, taking two sets and making a pair of super-wide wheels (corolla's and 510's) from some Epsilons and older SSR's worked too. Just re-torque them down, and there's no issue at all.

Check occasionally to see if they loosen up.
