Hmmm. I can't imagine you are a good source for "what is left/extreme" given how far "left of sanity" you are.

I'm sure you consider Van Jones a moderate.

You seem to assume neoconservatism is just right of center.

Why do you keep trying to squeeze me into this conservative vs liberal box? I don't fit in it and I don't self identify by those means. I'm a moderate social libertarian. The only way you could call me liberal is if you defined a liberal as one who wants to change from the status quo but even the modern republican party would be liberal by that definition.

Ect. Like all the overblown news stories about missing kids and what not. Notice Trevor and Zimmy are out of the media already? At the heart of it, nobody ever really gave a shit. It was a distraction.
I think people concerning themselves with their immediate environment (or what they perceive/suggested it is) is probably genetic in nature; but the pace at which we shift our attention from topic to topic is most likely determined by what we are exposed to over the course of our life, especially early on. I don't have any hard proof, but this can be seen looking at different generations and how they handle information flow, those kind of changes don't happen that fast genetically.
