At the beginning of the school year, guess who was the only one with a 240. Yes, ME. Then a couple months later a 94 s13 showed up. Now there is an 89-90 coupe and another 95-96 s14. DAMNIT! We are talking about a LITTLE school here. My graduating class this year is 20. Bla, everybody in my school sucks. They like body kits and NOS and rice rice rice. Not only that, but they are fucking stupid...they don't know shit about NOS or anything but they like it. The license plate on the new s14 at school is "drift 2" WTF! I'm glad they are out of production...when they wreck their cars drifting they will just have to find a nice honda.
damn F&F!

yea, I don't know who to place the blame on, I'll just say the recent popularity of Initial D, is that ok???

I like Lance's idea of Darwinism.....

Anyways, that just means more parts for those who actually know how to drive, although it's unfortunate that it will be at the price of a perfectly good 240sx.....

Anyways.... we're all screwed untill the curb-humpers find a new trend to play with.

Hmmm I dont think it has that much to do with Initial D. If that was the case you would see a bunch of swapped out GT-S with tofu shop stickers on them.
I think it has more to do with SCC, super street and every other mag in the last couple months that have been featuring the 240 series.
Plus you got to look at all the shops out there that let like option videos run all day. Which with that you have all these little rich kids coming in and going damn I wish I could do that. Well the F&F didnt help either.
I guess I dont look at it in a completely neg way cause it just means more parts for us at a cheaper price and maybe a few more people to bs with.

DSC do you know the kids? Can you like convert them to good side
It would give you some people locally to hang with.

Yeah, and they seem to want to race more now. Like I feel like I get revved at more often, and more people check out my car than they used to. It's kinda weird. Not sure if I like the extra attention. I kinda liked being incognito.. LOL

sorta same thing happened to me with my old car. I was the first to own a 4th generation Prelude at my school, next thing I know just 4 months down the road everyones driving them. Not only at my school but ALL around town (and I lived in a VERY small town) It made me really mad that I had thought so hard to try to be original, and then have it all pissed away. I know I wasnt the first person to ever drive a prelude, but they were fairly rare in my area. Probably one of the reasons I sold it!

My last car was a Civic Si hatch that I'd owned since it was 1.5 years old... before b16 or ITR swaps.

Now I have the 240... which is becomming annoyingly popular. Look at the bright side.. at least our cars will finally have a resale value

Well, I went back up to school today...never made it to any of my classes but I drove up there twice
Anyway I checked out the s14 (couldn't find the owner) its an SE 5spd with cloth interior. Looks stock...prolly cauz he just bought it Looked like he had some nice tires, but I didn't check what they were. I'm excited about the community growing and stuff but the people here are beyond hope. "With other NOS systems they have to drill a hole into the cylinder, with this new one, they can just run one line into the intake" this comming from someone who wanted to get a 240 like mine.

i'd say it's initial d's fault. i hear a lot of people saying initial d is what got them into 240's and drifting. before i even came to this board, someone said my car was similar to a car in initial d. (of course, it really isn't)

Er..don't look at me. I've been into 240SX's since 1996 back when I saw 180SX's, S13's and S14's (they were NEW at the time&#33 on Option Magazine, Carboy, and stuff. Even back then I was talked into thinking Hondas were way too popular. THIS WAS IN 1996!

Then I saw Initial D and I thought drifting was cool and something that takes tons of practice to understand the science and the technique of how to control the car. hell, I still don't understand drifting since I've never done it before. Never said I did.

Aw fvck that then, I'm getting myself a 2000-2001 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS.

I fell in love with my s14a the first time I saw one. I loved how it looked and had to have one, I started stuying like mad about it and found out things like RWD, Multilink and 50/50 wd and there was no way I could pass it up... then came initial d, then I bought the car, and now we are at the point were there is a 240sx in every months super street or scc... frankly, I don't care, the care is so fuckin rare in quebec that they can look all the want they won't find many s14a's, and like someone said, they get crashed and the die, 240's will go extinct due to idiots, that's why I am glad there are a few good people like SOME of the folks on here who really know that the car they have will probably go down as a classic car of our time. I know my 240 will be around for many more years in my possesion, and I wouldn't mind it taking up space in a big garage till the day I die... I will never get bored of it.

You know, that happens everytime you buy a new car. You'll buy a car that you don't see any of in the place that you live and BAM!!! they just start popping out of every street corner.

wtf is initial d. i keep on hearing bad things about it...something to do w/ drifting. i guess it can't hurt for me to know what it is, im already set on buying a s13 and making it a sylvia....call me a poser if you want! i really don't understand when people say im into drifting i was alway into it before i even knew it was something you could be into, it is like saying im into going around turns. it seems to me to be a naturaly extension of driving at the edge of a cars limits, and that is what i enjoy, driving at the edge.

Initial D is this animated series in Japan that has episodes of shall I say "kids" racing and drifting. Its actually kinda neat since I don't think there are to many shows like it. They drift Silvias, Skilines, AE86's etc...

here's a pic

They dont play or sell it in America, at least at major stores. You can buy it from Animeniacs.org for 80 bucks US. This includes the whole series and Movie. yes, all three seasons. If you want it you better act now because its going to be licensed soon and he wont be selling it. Just go to anime DVD's and then Initial D. Pretty cool show after you get used to the Computer animated race scenes.

Heh, well I don't think my area is paying real close attention to 240s... well the old ones (89-94) are kinda popular, but that was even when i just joined the campus (2 yrs ago). Right now I think the whole UMCP (University of Maryland College Park) campus has only 2 95+ sxs, mine 97 and some other guy's sexy green 96 240.... I never could get a hold of him though

Whoa! This is what I have been waiting for. The 240 to come around and be recognized for the superior car that it is. I too, like all in the forum, are sick of only seeing civics on the news stands and on TV. hell, I want affordable parts too like the civics and the more people who buy them the more available they will be.

I have been an owner and lover of my 240 since 96 when I bought her used and I wouldn't see one on the road at all. Yes I was unique but at the same time I would have liked to been able to bs about a common love with another gear head. Since scc put out the silvia conversion sr swap I have been getting sooooo many coments on my swap and a lot of guys are really into it.

I think it is just more and more shitty civics with their pipes and multiple gauges are going to start getting their arses kicked by a real sports car and not a converted family mobile.

hmmm hey these things happen to me too.....

but...maybe its not like that at all??

just because you just bought this car that u really love and that u know its every curve/edge of its body that when ever you are drivin around or what ever u start noticing more and more of these cars? because you are driving 1 of them?? dunno
this maybe the case......cause im definitly sure there wasn't that much 200sx(australia) in my town.....untill i started driving 1 around..!!

Having a large aftermarket is good, but you have to remember: the conversion is huge right now; ie people with civics are ricing out their shit-mobiles and sticking S14 and S15 front ends on them. this is also bringing a bad name to imports. Just because these cars we have are high and mighty, gaining in popularity, and getting things stolen from them. They should keep the market as it is and burn all of the issues of Stupid Street.

Mike

If this didnt make sense to you it was kinda confusing to me too!

240sx aftermarket is fine as it is.

drifting can be faster than a grip line, depending on the situation.

It's not that we need more 240's around, we just need good owners. Only YOU can prevent badly custimization of 240sx's.

This forum is a huge outlet of information, so much better then any magazine I've read. Honda this CIVIC that. We are growing though, I do have a subscription to sport compact car and the cover was a 240 drift machine under $3000. So it's going to come around. just need to remember the 'old schoolers' like you guys who were here first!!
