I'm getting the new coilover itch. Aragostas are too soft for the RB in there now so I'm on the fence between FA 500 with swifts vs 510s. Anybody got any input for me to help me decide?

I have 510 with swifts 7/5 rides like a dream comfy but handles when needed . Id probably go with 9/7 if i was to do it again.. a little more still wont hurt

Im on 500's... I love them, they ride super smooth. I went with 8k/6k, not back breaking but not too soft either. Im going to upgrade to swifts soon though.

Well, my setup will be interesting. Terry/Chris are recommending either 10/7 or 9/7 spring rates. Just not sure if I should go 500 or 510s. What exactly is the difference between the 2?

The 510's, from what ive read seem to be just an updated version of the 500's with "ultra" digressive pistons... Pretty much all of the other specs are idential. Supposedly they are filled with a better shock fluid to.. The 510's definetly look cooler. I wish I wouldve gotten the 510s.

But thats the thing, looking cooler actually warrant the price difference? Looking at $1375 with the 500s vs 1775 for the 510s, both with swifts. Shit for a cunt hair more over the 510s, I can go Dreadnaughts...

Why not get an old set of HKS Hyper D and have FA rebuild (if needed), and put Swift on them???

I have 10/9 on the Yashios... they are stupid stiff, but smooth!

See, thats the thing Drew, I got Topline Aragostas and I was actually contemplating having them to check it out and see if they can rebuild it. Just not sure how long of a turn around it would be and they're not 100% sure if they can rebuild it, not until they inspect it. I'm just worried I go thru all the hassle of having them try to rebuild them and then it turns out they cant after breaking it all down. Figured $150 per corner to rebuild, and $400 to get upgraded Swifts, should put me at around $1k either way. For $300 more or so, I can get brand new 500s with Swifts.

My other issue now is I'm not even sure what spring rates are in the car right now so my butt dyno can reference what 10/7s would feel like. According to Topline's site, S14s run 8/6d and S15s are 9/7s. IIRC, when I got this set from UPG, they were billed as S15s, but sure as hell doesnt feel that stiff. My old first gen MRs felt stiffer than these and those were 8/6s. But that doesnt really matter much since they'll get new swifts anyways.

BSing with Knoop right now and he said he got 10/9s on his green meanie. Guess I need to ride it and see how it feels. How much heavier are RB25s again over LSx?

Thats up to you, like I said.. I went with 500's... I didnt see the point in spending the extra money on the 510's when the car will rarely if ever see any track time. I did go with 510's on my track S13 project though.. I didnt pay full price though either.

I think the 500's with swift springs will be pretty good.

Well, Terry messaged me back. He pretty much said that the 510 is more setup for grip. So if I'm more into drifting, 500s with swifts will be good enough for me.

Terry is a cool dude, he's helped me with all my suspension questions and helped me get on the "drivers support" program last year.. Now I just need to get my car done so I can actually be a driver haha.
