I have 17x9.5 rpf1s.. they are like 16.5lbs seriously... great... i think the largest size is 17x10.5... but i will opt for 18x10.5 or larger (rpf1 or otherwise) as ill wana run 295/335

you can put 315/35/17s on 17x10.5, though it's worth noting that it is common for the tread pattern of 315s to be 12.0 inches wide. 335s aren't really optimal on a 10.5 inch rim, since the tread is far wider than the actual rim. I have personally owned Nitto NT05 315/35/17s on Mustang FR500 17x10.5 rims, and they offered better traction than anything else I ever have run. I am currently running 275/40/17 Nitto NT05s on 17x10 RPF1s, because the RPFs are so light and there isn't a lightweight, wider option (other than the aforementioned CCW).

i think rpf1s come in 17x10.5 as well no? 18x10.5 for sure. There is also a widening option like that rx7 owner who modified his rpf1s to 18x12.5 if i recall and 18x11 or something like that

Problem with this is it runs ~$200/wheel, and is usually only done on the inboard side of the hub facing, because otherwise you get ugly weld marks near the lip. And once you add ~200/wheel to a set of Enkei s you may as well go custom.

LFMAO, but then I thought there is a remote chance that you are serious.

According to tire specifications, using the Dunlop Direzza Star Spec as a sample, the widest tire you could run on a 17x7 would be a 215/40/17 which has a tire section width of 8.7 inches on a 7 inch rim. Any wider tire would need to be on a wider rim. Specs link:

Most people who want grip or wide tires go to a 17x9 or 17x10 (in 17s). I prefer 17s because they are a lot cheaper than 18s, and the extra sidewall is actually favorable for autocross/grip purposes.

I've been reading through this thread for a while now, and helpful as it is, I can't quite find a set up like I'm trying to run with the right description of offsets and fend modifications, so I'll just ask:

Enkei RPF1 17x9.5 +18 front, 17x10 +18 rear
Kuhmo Ecsta XS 275/40/17 front, 295/35/17 rear

Would it be possible to run this setup on an S14 with just a roll and pull? Or would wider fenders be required? I want to run as wide of a combination as possible without having the wheels/tires actually sticking out farther than the fenders themselves. Car is lowered on coilovers, not slammed, but about 1/2" wheel gap right now.

This will work and be a great max set up, but you better be pretty comfortable with R&P. The front can be done on stock fenders but they probably won't be pretty. Look for some pics of ACEintheHole white zenki with his 285/35/18s and stock fenders up front.

Ideally you'd run another 10mm of offset in the rear, but I know the RPF1 just aren't available with ideal offsets. It should still work, but it's going to be tough on the passenger side. Just heat up the metal well and don't forget to roll high up the quarter panel as well as the lip, and don't expect your paint to come away unscathed.

If they made a 295/35/17, I would buy one but I have never ever seen one. 275 or 315 are what's out there. 295/18 yes, but 295/17 doesn't exist. I run a 275/35/17 Nitto NT05 on RPF1s in the rear and they fit without rubbing with a fender roll and pull. If I dropped some they would rub though, as they won't tuck inside the fenderwells with that wide of a tire.



The fronts will never fit in my opinion without getting widebody fenders, and if you actually do get them to fit the fenders will be murdered.

I have also heard that for autocross/grip purposes running a 255 front+ can drive the need for a power steering fluid cooler. I am still running 235s up front until next season starts, when I will move up to 255s in the front. I need to get wider RPF1s for the front in +18 instead of the +38, which I have now.

Really, staggered setup is not great for a 240 to begin with.

Of course I wasn't suggesting a 235/275 setup. As I said I am running it for now until spring when I will go bigger in the front.

If we are talking about grip, I am surprised that someone hasn't mentioned that going to a really big tire setup (like 275/40/17 all around or 275/17 front 315/17 rear) on a relatively lightweight S13 car may not be optimal because it may not be enough to even warm up track, or aggressive street tires, operated in a medium to colder temperature climate.

And lastly I didn't say that a PS Cooler was expensive; I just suggested it as a good idea with really large front tires if the car is going to see track or hard driving.

275/40 is too tall, esp coupled with a 4.08. And that's a lot of sidewall in front, people have said that it makes for a mushier feel.

I think 255/40 all around is probably the best setup for a stock bodied s13 with 17s (for autox).

I've been reading about your build -- would have done a few things differently but it looks pretty good.

They may be used for vintage stuff, but they're Hoosier Quick Time Pros. Their only purpose is drag racing haha.

The main reason I got those tires is that there are a few dumbasses at the local track that need to be put in their place. I'm more interested in standing 1/2 mile events and such which will use a different setup.

Wanting to put some Work XD9 18x10 +18 on all 4 corners. 1997 240 with stance coilsand allcamberarmsinstalled. I dontmind rolling/pulling the fenders some. Can I get away with say a 265/35/18 all around? I don't mind a few degrees of camber but would like to get the biggest footprint on the ground without the stretched look. ill be ordering the wheels and tires tonight. thanks

Thats going to be tough. Maybe not in the rear, but the front will require quite a bit of camber and lots of pull i imagine.

I am currently restoring a set of super advan SA3 wheels 16x7 and 16x8 +32 all around.

I am looking to run a maximum tire size on these wheels (yes, I know they aren't an aggressive size).

Over here in Australia, they don't carry Dunlop Direzza Star Specs, which was my first choice- but I plan to get another high performance tire.

is 225/55/16 all around pushing it? or could I go bigger?

application: 90' s13 silvia, and I don't want to do any pulling/rolling of the fenders.

you could go bigger. an 8 rear could easily hold a 235 or 245. i wouldn't run such large sidewalls. the 225 is fitting for the 7.

so like 225/50? for the 7" and what for the 8" 245? What type of tire would you suggest? I want something affordable that I can get in Australia for maximum performance that is street legal. Would there be too much flex in a 55 sidewall or is that just your preference? I like tall sidewalls.

Straight up.... 16s are dead. That being said:

You can run toyo RA1s in a 255/50 that is approved from 7-9"

And I think kumho is making a 265. But they will cost you a pretty penny. If you puss out and run a 245 please don't bother posting back up in the Max tire thread.
