VH45 - Stock headers w/ larger pipe?
I'm going to be using the stock headers on my VH45. They don't have all the pipes going into a large collector like aftermarket pipes.
Pic: The ends of the stock headers are 1.5" inside diameter.... Now I was planning on buying Mazworx headers which have 3" collectors, and running dual 3" exhaust through the whole system. But now that I'm sticking with the stock headers, how can I adapt my 3" X-Pipe (already bought) and stay at 3" exhaust while maintaining the stock headers? The outside diameter of the headers is 2 1/8", I think I might run something like this, just weld it up to the end of the header: http://www.ebay.com/itm/161119788490 Last edited by FourtyKid; 03-21-2014 at 11:49 PM.. |

Those seem a bit cheaper. Also, did you solve the issue with the fourth runner hitting the steering? |

Nope, there was no way it was going to fit so now I'm working on making my own set of headers. I'm running them like traditional headers into a 3" collector so no need for an adapter.

Originally I was thinking that but I asked my muffler shop friend what to do and he said just to cut the pipes off and leave just like 2", and fit 1.5" into the ends of those, and just run that. (Due to the way they're bent, they're larger than 1.5" at the bends where I cut but otherwise they're the same size as the pipe I'm running) So that's what im doing:
It's going pretty well, my collectors came today so I can get everything all aligned properly. |
