s13 STS class What tire size for 15"?

I have 15x6.5 wheels and want to run STS this year.

What tire size do you recommend for STS/daily driver?

or if I get another set of tires.

What tire size do you recommend I use for autoX only?

Not much out there for dedicated autoX tires for 15" wheels.

205/50 15's and that's about it They have 225/50 15's but don't know if they will fit. Anyone running 225/50 15's on an S13 in STS?

Thanks.

I've heard you can fit up to a 235 on an S13 without problems, so the 225 would probably be no problem.

Is that up front or just the rear?

Can a 225/50 fit on a 6.5" wide wheel?

I've put 225/50's on 6" wheels before, but I wouldn't recommend it, especially for autocross; it tends to make the car feel really squishy as the sidewall rolls around.

unless your getting tires with extremely stiff sidewalls, then don't run tires that wide on stock wheels.

205/55 - 15 works wonderful.

For best performance in STS, get Falken azenis sports in 205/(whatever sidewall is available)-15

I would never run 225 on a 6.5" wheel, but some people do, especially in autox. Seems a bit wide to me, but to each their own. Definitely get azenis though, they are by far the best tires for that class.

What about 215/55? Thats pretty close to stock diameter. Gives a little wider patch of rubber for you...

I was looking on tire rack. They have Kumho K-somethings and one other brand i forgot for that size. But probably cant compare to Azenis... worth a try if 205 isnt wide enough

With your existing wheels, the 205/50-15 Falken Azenis would be the ONLY tire worth using for STS. This tire isn't very daily driving friendly though... They suck in the wet, and the short 205/50 size will spin the engine much faster at speed. They also wear somewhat quickly.

For more of a daily driver compromise, look at the Dunlop FM901 or Yokohama AVS ES100, both in 205/55-15.

Don't go over 205 with that wheel width!

IMO, the ultimate STS tire choice for the 240SX is the 225/45-17 Falken Azenis. If you can save your money for some inexpensive 17" wheels, you're golden. You don't need a $2000 set of forged 17x9 +15 offset wheels to fit that tire size like some people would suggest, it will work great on a common 17x7.5 +40 provided you don't have coilovers.

I've daily driven on azenis for the last 2 years, its worth it. they last 10-14 months for me driving about 20,000mi a year. Dry, dirt, wet, snow, ice...i've driven them on it all and I like them

For the price and performance, you can't beat them. Although there are better tires for bad weather conditions, I think the azenis is a great tire.

On stock s14 SE wheels (they are 6.5 wide right? or 7?) the 205/55/16 azenis actually bulge a little bit. I wouldn't go any higher.
