Transmission Stamps

Hello everyone, I was taking a look at my manual transmission on my ka24e and it has a #1 stamped on the side of it. I am hoping to do a sr20det swap soon and someone on facebook is selling one with a manual transmission but it is stamped #2. What is the difference between the two? Both are FS5W71C models right?

Correct, both are FS5W71s, but the SR and KA transmission are not the same internally, and differences are pretty big. Both will work, but they made that transmission for so long, and put it in so many vehicles that there are tons of changes they made over the years. Some are small, some are big. I've seen differences in gear/tooth sizes, as well as shift fork thickness and differences in bearing sizes. Honestly, there could be a thread just about changes made to the FS5W71 over the years.

highly doubt it matters unless you are going for a purist build.

mine has #5 on the side. not sure what it came out of but the car was an auto to 5 speed conversion prior to my ownership in 2020.
