I'll be using an Arduino Shield and the CANBUS signals from my Link GTTLink to display realtime data on the dash for everything. My thoughts are that I can display all relevant information on the dash at one time, with the option to switch the smaller screens at the touch of a digital button and display ancillary systems on the fly.

The screens are industrial units with logic chips embedded to handle the display output, so they will handle the extreme temps of the interior without blacking out like a tablet or laptop will in the middle of summer.
This was just using an arduino nano, nothing special. Unfortunately it crapped out pretty quickly. Hopefully it is just a wiring issue but if not I may upgrade to the mega. Right now it is just showing speed but i'm about to start adding code to add in coolant and oil temp. I'll be running nismotronic soon and plan to have my boost, wideband, and oil pressure run off of that to tunerview, which I will have either on my phone or on a tablet during events or hard driving. I don't like the look of gauges, hate pillar pods, and don't want to get rid of my vents, so that seems like the most logical setup.

Anyone have suggestions on a low-key, single din head unit? I'd prefer something without all the colors and flashiness of the standard aftermarket head unit.

I picked up a full leather interior for my S14. The driver's side bolster has a good sized hole and top edge of the back seat is sun damaged and cracking.

Does anyone have any experience or suggestions for repairing or replacing upholstery?

No, they're factory S14 leather seats. The driver's seat has a hole in it, so I was asking if anyone had experience repairing leather interior.

Want to get it repaired before I actually install them in my car.

Here's another angle.

take it to an automotive/boat upholstery shop... will probably cost you $40-$50 to have fixed.

You'd be hard-pressed to find something that isn't still stuck in the 90's way of styling, because they are, indeed, mostly 90's technology.

But what I have seen that are good are Alpines which are very basic in terms of lighting and most of Clarion. I tend to go for the ones with less-protruding buttons or too many lights.

I have a Pioneer DEH-6000BT. Very simple, yet has Bluetooth and USB port. No million buttons and light show.

Set button color to white and it matches interior. It's blue in this pic, but can set to almost any color you want.

Clean and simple interior:

Here's some shots of my S13 interior. Its a work in progress. Did new, aftermarket carpet, floor mats, shift boot, new OEM ash tray, and repaired the HUD. LED's throughout, including the cluster. I want to change the Nardi woodgrain I got for a leather version. So if anyone is looking for a woodgrain Nardi classic, let me know. Also need to get the HVAC lights back to working again. If anyone has a link to that write-up, post please!

What he said^^ My carpet at a small tear on the hump that the s13 ones wouldn't have covered because it's cut around it. Even if my carpet was pristine, I don't like the look of it being cut around the hump. The s14 ones fit perfect, even the hole for the hook that holds them in place is in the same location.
