s13 SR red top intake HELP! please

Ok so i did some search on what i need some tips on and found little bit here and there but not really convinced yet.

Heres my situation.... Ok i have sr redtop in my s13. I was in the freeway and noticed temp needle all the way up to high aka overheating. So i found out one of the cooling hoses underneath intake manifold ripped. I know its gona be a bitch to get to this hose so im thinking of just removing the whole intake. Now couple of Q's here:

1. can i get to the hoses from underneath the car to replace these without removing parts?

2. Can i just remove the upper piece of the manifold to get to the hoses?

3. Is it alot of work taking the whole manifold out? What gaskets am i gona have to replace?

I've always worked on my cars so i have some kind of mechanic knowledge, how much of a challenge is this gona be? Any input or tips would help guys.

Take off the whole manifold its not hard
Pull the injectors some vacum lines blah blah

Just mark where everything goes and bag and tag all nuts and bolts where they go

Just to help you out heres what your gonna be looking at

The Manifold>Head gasket is a metal gasket so you might get away with resusing it. But I wouldnt just so you wont have to ripp it off again to replace it.

manifold is not hard to get off and put back on at all. iirc 7 12mm bolts connect to the head, 5 12mm bolt connect the upper part to lower part loosen the and pull the upper manifold off after unhooking 3 gas lines. there might be a few misc support bolt to cant remember just remove them. Lower mani is held on by a manifold support that has 2 12mm bolts on the bottom and 1 or 2 near the front iirc. Once you get them loose just lift the manifold up, no need to disconnect and hoses and replace the one you need.

i changed all the lines and installed a block off plug on the 1 inch waterneck , with the manifold on and engine in the car, its not too bad, i pushed my left hand through the left side of the manifold where its open (the side facing the firewall) give it a decent try with the manifold on, i thought it was going to be a nightmare but in the end it was pleasantly easy

2 step process. all bolts to 8ft-lbs, then 20 ft-lbs. of course starting in the center.

as far as the gasket, there are plastic "thermal" gaskets that supposedly reduce heat transfer and also serve to increase air volume... circuit sports i believe makes them. they are also re-usable which is why i bought one.

Well guys i replaced the hoses today..... i got to honestly say its not that bad. Taking intake off was no biggy. Took me a good 1/2 day to do this but it was fun i guess. I did hear from a few guys that there is no need to take intake off to replace these hoses.....well the truth is i think you have to. There is no way you can get to these without taking it off unless you have some small ass hands and shit. For anyone out there that will be doing this, just remove intake, its much easier and it guarantees the job well done. Thanks alot guys for the input on this.
