Thread ripper seems like it will be a market killer. The cinebench scores for that price are INSANE. It is going to force intel to drop price.

I cannot believe how awesome Ryzen has been.

The $799 12 core has me really excited, I'm a firm believer of these high end platforms because of their longevity, I'm still rocking an X58/6 core Xeon rig which holds up just fine today.

TR4 socket is suppose to support the next few generations of AMD's offerings so it should be a super solid platform for the next 5+ years.

Now we just need to see how Vega does, I foresee a full AMD system in my future if Vega drops at a solid price point with great performance.

I'm thinking about this too. My last AMD PC I ever had was back in 2002. My current build was built in 2010 with an i7 930 and I need to build another gaming PC.

Last amd build I had was 2004. Next build will have to multitask as a part time gaming rig, multiple virtual machines(ceh training and malware forensics), and shared network storage.

Kinda what I'm thinking too, my current 980Ti overclocks well and performs close to a 1070, but I just want something different. ThreadRipper with a pair of Vega's would be sweet

This pretty much confirms Vega will be on par with a 1080. Kind of torn, if the price is right it still might be a solid buy but I can probably find a second 980Ti for around $300 and hold out a while longer...

I need to start saving up & planning out a new build. I built my current setup 6 years ago atleast.

Intel I5, Gefore GTX 570, Asus mobo (dont recall which one right now) etc. I haven't played anything on it that really made me say "shit, it's time to upgrade" until I recently downloaded Rust.

My video card just barely handles the game. I know people with better setups complain that the game crashes for them too but I was getting furious yesterday. I never had any issue with any other games i've played.

The price has to be right. I cannot help but admit I am bummed AMD is coming over a year late with a card that matches the 1080. They should have had a card that bent the 1080ti over the sink.

Regardless though I will buy a vega card as 1080 performance is what I want. Assuming of course it is cheaper.....

Ryzen has been fantastic, nearly matching Intel's IPC and coming in at such a competitive price. Really had high hopes for Vega to drop with 1080Ti performance and a price that was unbeatable.

AMD is back though, even in Vega isn't ground breaking. I am super excited to see what they can make happen in the next year or so.

Fully Agreed on Ryzen. I am planning an R5 1600 build for next year. With vega. I am super pumped to have a new AMD graphics card coming out and not a rebrand, I just was hoping it would be 1080Ti levels. I am tired of seeing nvida on the top 4 slots on benches. quadro-ti-1080-1070

I want to go back to the days of the 5870 and 7970, when AMD rained supreme. My HD7970 under water was an absolute beast.

Dude. I replaced my 7950 just this year. It was still getting 40fps on games like GTA V and well over 60 on some others. Those cards were beasts.

I was wondering where you been at.

As long as it gets 1080 at the right price I am sold. I just keep hoping at siggraph vega comes out and dominates the 1080ti.

We've got pricing, not sold yet, waiting to see some reviews before I make any decisions.

Threadripper 1900X will probably be the heart of my new build, super excited to see how threadripper performs with quad channel high speed DDR4.

Vega 56 is the one I am eyeing. With the 1080ti hit around 699-780 I cannot see getting an LE edition Vega when even AMD themselves are putting its performance around the 1080.

If the 56 can come in with performance to rival the 1070, it may be a decent buy. Only thing that has me still hesitant is the fact that my overclocked 980ti can keep up with a 1070, I really don't know if it would be worth it for me to "upgrade" even to a 64.

I was thinking getting the bundle l/c with the Sammy $200off. The monitor I plan to get. Such a awesome deal.

But, I also want to see what aib partners have. I doubt there's any changes/improvements from ref liquid cooled.

Also tile-base raster was disable on FE. Rx is going to be unleashed. It will improve performance. Just have wait and check the benches

The ASUS/MSI air coolers are going to be massive improvements over the reference cooler. With as much power as these are said to use, I would be interested to see if a board partner makes a PCB with a super beefy VRM that lets the card boost higher than the reference board design.

VEGA 56 benchmark results?

This looks very promising, VEGA 56 is pretty much stomping a GTX 1070.

i wouldn't call that a stomp. but, it def beats 1070.
still... it's a brand new arc with room to grow.
if 1070 price is still sky rocket high. should be a cake walk for amd.
