help with gas tank

hey guys i was driving last night and stopped at a stop sign. when i went to take off in 1st gear, the car bogged and then shut off. a friend and i pushed my car off to the side of the street and began to see what was wrong. we checked the fuses and everything was good. i checked the fuel line and there was no fuel in the line at all. so i knew it was my fuel pump that gave out. i got the car towed to the shop and today this morning my friend tells me my fuel pump gave out because there was mud in my fuel tank.

im not sure if someone tried to sabotage me... but is there some type of fuel system cleaner than can take care of this problem? is it better to just replace the tank itself? is it possible to take the tank out and clean it?

car is an s13 with sr20det redtop.

if that's the case you'd probably wanna drop the tank and clean it out first. Then once that's clean you could probably run some sort of fuel system cleaner to flush the lines afterward. Probably would wanna change out your fuel filter too while yer at it.

yes it's possible to take the tank out and clean it.

drop the subframe
drop the tank
clean
raise tank
raise subframe

install a new fuel filter while u are at it.

No need to drop the subframe. The gas tank is only held by 2 straps. Its easy as 1-2-3.

Try get some redline complete fuel system cleaner or the chevron techron fuel system cleaner.

I don't really trust the gumout/STP stuff since I've used some of their other products and it didn't really help.
