i dont know if i mentioned that i work in what you might call a pawn shop, but i do and we've been getting crazy amounts of car audio stuff in the past few days... here's some of the shit i've bought and the prices in
canadian $$$

JL 12w0's pair in pro box - $75

JL TR525-cx 5.25 speakers - $35
(brand new in box)

Power Acoustic apache - $40
680 watt

pioneer head (old one) - $35
super tuner II

Alpine head CD7something - $50
w/ remote & GM bracket

Phoenix Gold 5 1/4 component set - $50
saffire series w crosses and tweets

MB Quart 6x9's in truck box - $10 !!!

Alpine 3331 - $5 !!!
preamp & eq
but had to resauder a wire

Clarion DVC 10" sub - $20
new in box

we also put some stuff out that people lost on pawns..

Sony head w/ remote                Phoenix Gold
4 preouts, voice guide               ZX450 v.2 75 x 4 rms

Sony 4 x 50 w/ cross over
&  LED wattage meter

--- would any of you guys let this shit go that cheap???

i bought the JL 5 1/4 for $52 and im putting them in my car, i can get the phoenix gold components for at most $100 and i think i may get them at weeks end, what do you guys think???

i sold the phoenix gold amp for $499, it was amazing, maybe the best amp i've ever seen sold second hand, the sony deck and amp were from the same guy who got $200 for all 3 and never cam back for it <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>?

I also turned down 2 Lanzar twelves in a box, and a new legacy amp, actually i we offerd $30 for the amp, and that was even too much for that shit...

never seen it like this where every second person who comes in wants to sell their stuff, guess it;s off-season and gotta pay christmas bills...

i also have my mint JL 12w3 DVC in a professional box
on consignment for $259.95 canadian... is that a good price, i know it really is but would you pay that.. it goes for $310 for just the sub around here...

i've heard people say they dont like JL, they're the ones that like MTX...

you can not like it, but you cant really say it's lousy, it is among the better car audio manufactureres's out there, when you go to a place that sells good stuff they will always have JL... of course thats not to say it's the best, nor is kicker, eclipse, or fosgate, if i had the money i'd go for Macintosh all the way, there may even be better stuff than that, but it is beautiful, i found a dealer and dear god the stuff is wicked....

BACK ON TRACK!!!!

have you guys ever sold to pawn shops or bought from them...

you may have doubts, but they are a prime place to get stuff, i find i want certain things and when i go to these places and look there are always interesting items that will do the trick that i never thought of, on top of whcih i the fact that y ou will save, and you can negotiate.

I love workign there because i learn a little about alot, for example how rolex is a piece of dung, yes you heard it here folks...

Ummm...
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Yea about JL being lousy... right... anyways.. Fosgate... they are cool and everything. &nbsp;Their 500 watt amp puts out 650 RMS and JLs puts out 550 for $50 more. &nbsp; The Rockford has remote bass included... JL's is an optional ($39.95) &nbsp;the Fosgate only makes good power @ 2 ohm. &nbsp; The JL makes it's power anywhere from 1.5 to 4.0 ohm. &nbsp;RF doesn't have subsonic filter... JL does. &nbsp; The 500/1 has such a better sonic toolset than RF it's a joke. &nbsp; The 500/1 is a better amp in my opinion.... However they are both very nice. &nbsp; It is also cool that the JL has a crossed-over amp pre-out too. &nbsp;Incase you have some oldass amp without a crossover. &nbsp;JL is one of the better car audio manufacturers out there... all of their products from my experince have sounded better than Rockford. &nbsp;Sure JL's stuff isn't the prettiest, but is -NOT- lousy!!

And ummm the W7... need I say more?

i dont really care about specs and shit, the sound is what counts,

since we're not staying on topic anyways, i was thinking of having my amp rewired into my sub, which ever way will mae it louder, i do have an older amp, probably 94-96, but all 3 amps match, and they are all doing a good job... my 45 x 4 has a built in cross...

but anyways, what do you guys think of my soon to be set up...

JL 12w3... ialready have this and it's fucking awesome for long low bass drops...

i have infinity 4x6's right now but i'm gonna replace em, i have boston 6.5's but im replacing them too, probably gonna put the phoenix gold saffire components in, 5.25 in the doors, tweets on the A-pillar, i have a set of tweeters for the dash already, and i bought the
Jl tr525-cx, 5.25 speakers,
do you think there'll be anythikgn lacking form putting 5.25's on the rear deck??? the fuck who had the car before me hacked the shelf so i'll put a bracket over all the frayed shit and place the speaks in nice and tight...

and is there going to be any feedback about the sellign and buying second hand??? or am i wasting my time here....

im not really angry but...

actually i do.... but the ones on the dash have a little mount that enables them pivot and move up &amp; down, i thought they were neat, they are more fo appearance than for purpose but i'm gonna do it....

unless you see a reason not to.

Are you talking about running two sets of tweeters? &nbsp; There are a couple reasons why you wouldn't want tweeters up on your pillars... but I'd have to know what you're doing firsst....

Duderiffic..Can you suggest some low priced amps for me? I know names like kicker, rockford, clarion, etc are good, but i can't really afford a 1000w rockford 1000.2 or kicker zr1000. Do you know of anything cheaper that works fairly well, for a lower price?

Honestly an excellent line of amps for the money is a Kenwood 829... it's in store retail is $199 and it's 300 watts RMS of clean power. &nbsp; For all the booger-eating morons that buy very few if any ever come back broken. &nbsp; If you're looking for something more expensive then you can affoard a good RF amp. &nbsp; If you're looking for something cheaper I dunno what to tell you.

I would not go with 3 12s... Go with 1 15&quot;... &nbsp;I am pretty sure that there isnt enough room for 3 12s in a 240, at least not in terms of cubic feet of air for the woofers.. &nbsp;I have a single 15 in a big box and I am really really happy with how it sounds.. &nbsp;Plus it looks really nice..

Of course, 3 12s might get a little bit more rumble than a single 15, but I have a friend who has 6 12's in his Explorer and while it hits harder and has more BASS, it also sounds like ass.. &nbsp; If you get a good 15, you will have good bass as well as good sound quality.. Just make sure you have good clean power running to it and that the box is the right size..

My setup is:

empeg mp3 player &gt; altec lansing ALC-10 crossover &gt; front: alpine 5 1/4 seperates, tweeters mounted on door &gt; rear: altec lansing 6x9s (carbon fiber woofer cones! woooo hoo) mounted on rear hatch shelf &gt; sub: hifonics atlas 15.. &nbsp;all powered by 3 linear power amps running a total of 1000 watts give or take..

I havent heard a car stereo that sounds better than mine.. I'm not bragging, I haven't heard a lot of car stereos, and that kind of thing is a totally personal preference, but I think that I have a really balanced system that sounds great and is perfect for me..

having 4 tweeters will cause all kinds of phasing issues with all those different waves bouncing of walls and interfering with each other. Some frequencies with experience more destructive interference, and be soft, and others will experience constructive interference and be louder, so it will be inconsitant. It will end up sounding like you have muddy high sounds.

3 12's will fit in the back of a nissan no problem as long as they are sealed boxes. &nbsp; If you remove the back seat and glass the bottom of the car you can get 14 cubic feet of air space and remain under window line.

If you want a good 1000 watt amp check out the JBL 1200.1. &nbsp; You get them off e-bay for $275 and they actually put out 1400 watts. &nbsp; It's about the best bang for the buck going right now.

Hey ONI i work at Circuit City too. Man i can't wait til i get my 240 so i can all my car stereo stuff. &nbsp; Our discount is basically a joke compared to retail prices. We actually get things more than 50% off depending on what brand. i want the Alpine R-Series speakers all around which retail for around $220 i believe and we only get them from $90 through accomodations. even tho it takes a few weeks for them to arrive at my door its sure as #### worth the wait. is that how u got your stuff too?
