The 500GB of bandwidth sounds like they are overselling. Anyone can offer bandwidth. I could offer 500000000 GB of bandwidth, but I refuse to oversell. Most people don't even come close to bandwidth or space limits. That is why host companies can oversell.

Interesting article. The company could be overselling but from a standpoint of bang for your buck isn't overselling still in the customer's favor (since we assume most users underuse their accounts)? I admit I would never use that much space or bandwidth for my personal stuff, but I do see your point.

I could offer cheaper hosting without fantastico, cPanel, cgi-bin, mysql, etc but I only offer quality webhosting with 99% uptime. Once you go with hosting that offers fantastico you will never go back. Trust me I have been with lot's of web host providers in my time. Fantastico is the only way to fly. You can have a blog, gallery, or whatever up in minutes.

Overselling can slow the server down which intern slows your site down which isn't good for the customer.

for the registration process to continue I had to bubble the thing that says, "use existing domain name" however I do not have one. SO instead I put in the domain name that I wish to have.. lol hope that works.

Yeah that is what everyone else pretty much did. I think I am going to have Mike remove that section now that we are giving people a free domain. You are all setup just waiting for the domain name to propagate, which we have no control over. It's the internets job now and it is slow. lol You still can sign into your cPanel while you wait. I just PM'd you with more info.

Yes you are correct that is how subdomains work.

The free domain I guess you would say is leased to you, but it is free so you don't have to pay a lease. It is free as long as you stay hosted with us.

It is still fully your domain name and we are not allowed to transfer, sell or do anything to the domain without your premission.

If you decide to cancel hosting with us, your domain name will be transfered to you. We just do a Transfer of Ownership. The only thing there is a $10 fee for this. We did not want to do this, but do to abuse of the free domain names we had to. We had people signing up get free name(s) and cancel before the 30 days is up. They get a complete free domain. We had one guy who did this and got like 6 domains from us for 100% free. What a nice guy!
