I just skimmed through this thread so I'm not sure if the following info has been posted.
From wikipedia... The S13 was the first S-series car to use the J's (Jack), Q's (Queen), K's (King) naming for the different trim levels. The K's were the only model to receive the turbocharged engines. The Club Selection cars came with specific options bundled together. For example all Club Selection K's came with projector headlights, a rear spoiler, and aluminum wheels. There was also a Dia(mond) Selection model available for selected years that included another similar accessories bundle. J's were the base model with a very basic interior, little electronics and are rarely found outside of Japan. The Q's model is middle-of-the-road. They received full electric options and an optional LSD. The K's were considered the top of the line and featured the turbocharged engine and the same full electric options as the Q's. K's have an LSD as standard equipment. There also exists the rare and widely-disputed Silvia A's "Almighty." The only available engine was the normally-aspirated SR20DE. From 200sx.org... There was a limited edition S13 convertible, a few hundred cars were built by the factory to use up the last of the S13 coupe shells. All of the original cars were painted "Royal Blue", and had the fixed headlights of the Silvia, rather than the 180SX/240SX (PS13) pop-ups. There have been several conversions. The Autech package being the most common in Japan at least. From a different wikipedia article... In 1992, a convertible body style was added to the lineup. It was exclusive to North America and was partially assembled in Japan, with final assembly taking place in the California facilities of American Specialty Cars (ASC). So the last two articles are contradictory? Also here's some codes for those who are interested, from somewhere... '88-'90 S13 Silvia CA18DET '90-'91 RS13 180SX CA18DET (R for fastback) '91-'93 PS13 Silvia SR20DET (P for SR) '91-'98 RPS13 180SX SR20DET (no distinction between the two different minor model change, last minor change was the inclusion of the double round lights and a more squarish front bumper.) '91-'93 KPS13 Silvia (K for SuperHicas) '91-'93 KRPS13 180SX '89-'90 HS13 240SX KA24E (H for KA24E) '89-'90 RHS13 240SX FB '91-'94 MS13 240SX (dunno chassis code for convertables) '91-'93 RMS13 240SX FB(M for KA24DE) '91-'93 KRMS13 240SX FB w/ SuperHicas '91-'93 KMS13 240SX w/ SuperHicas (Canadian market only). '94-'98 S14 Silvia SR20DET '94-'98 CS14 Silvia w/ SuperHicas '95-'98 S14 240SX KA24DE (no specific S14 code for KA24DE)

About the convertibles. They both exist. Just keep in mind that due to the way wikipedia works, it isn't always completly accurate. The club's/diamond's entry wasn't even on there before it was brought up in this thread.

Came on LE's. I dunno if you'd call it cream or white or what, but the LE coupe we're trying to secure in the states has it. Green exterior, brown interior, cream leather.

I can't say if it has an LE badge or not. I'm going based off of what the current owner said.

Numbers only reflect US cars. Seems like a lot of cars got killed or cut back due to OBD II changes (or whatever reason that caused many performance cars to be killed around 94-96ish). Also, the 240 got to be a rather expensive car: I think my car in 96 brand new was around $22k (I looked up price/options a while ago, not sure if thats correct), which is a little salty for the time.

It didn't have anything to do with OBDII. There was just a huge drop in the 2-door market in the mid-90's. I think it had to do with the rise in popularity of SUV's. People started buying suv's for the family vehicle instead of sedans or minivans. Since suv's cost so much more then, people didn't have as much spare income to spend on a sporty 2-door. Plus, 240's were pretty damn expensive, if you think about it. In 98, a 240 cost around $22,000-25,000, whereas something like an Integra, cost about $18,000, and for the vast majority of the car-buying public, there isn't that much to differentiate the two.

Mine's a 5spd, Silver Moss LE: I'd love to get the production numbers by trim level, transmission type, and color, to see exactly how many other '98 5spd Silver Moss LE's were made. I've asked Nissan a couple of times, but they've always said no dice. Those "Silvia" rear S13 coupe windows (the small ones) are PIMPTACULAR. I just got a white S13 coupe last month, can anyone clue me in to where I might score those windows? Oh, and the Kouki is for sale, PM me. |
