When your speedo  reads  60mph, you'll actually be travelling 61.9mph.  The better size would be 225/40/17's.

heres a quick question:

Stock tire size is 195/60r15  Optional handleing package had 205/60r15.

Since the tire 205/60R15 would have a greater circumference, did nissan create a different speedo gear for that package?

I thought the 205's only came on the rear.  If that's the case, then  there'd be no reason  to  b/c the  speedo reads the  front tires.

Why would the ride be rougher with 225/40R17s? Thanks for the responses guys!

Less sidewall to absorb bumps.  However, that's also less sidewall to flex.   Less sidewall  flex means  better handling.  It's all a big trade-off.

Only on the Rear??? Why would they do that? &nbsp; And I thought Our speedo read off the tranny not the wheels??

I don't know, I thought I heard that somewhere. &nbsp;
And maybe it does read the tranny, but I don't recall seeing my speedo jump when I break traction in the rear and my revs rise. &nbsp;I could &nbsp;very possibly be wrong.

i'm like 99% sure the 205/60-15s came on all 4 wheels. &nbsp;i originally had 195/60-15s on my car but when i replaced my tires a couple months ago i put on 205/60-15s. &nbsp;i just wanted a bigger footprint and it definitely gave me a little more stability and a better feel. &nbsp;i'm not sure how much the speedo would've been off but i find it hard to believe nissan would have 2 different speed sensors(??) to account for this slight difference... anyone know for sure?

The difference between the two sizes is 1.2mph at 60mph...not much. &nbsp;I doubt they had two different sensors to accomodate for that small of a difference.

Nismo has new speedo sensor gears that will allow you to adjust the speed. Probably not for increments that small though! Check out CourtesyNissan.com for more info. That is where I saw them I think!

Do we know if blackout has an s14 or s13?

IIRC, the 17&quot; upgrade for the s14 IS a 225/45/17. &nbsp; The correction factor from the stock 205/55/16 is way less than 1 mph.

So - if s13, trust Lance; if s14, the above should be correct.

Do S14s have 17&quot; factory option?
I'm just going on my stock size of 195/60/15. &nbsp; If S14s came stock with 205/55/16s then the 225/45/17s would only be off by 0.2mph at 60mph...just like Mark said.

No 17&quot; option, but the SE has the 205/55/16's. &nbsp;I'm not sure about the base, but I *think* the base s14 has the same 195/60/15 as the s13 SE.

I guess I was paying more attention to the tach than the speedo then. &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

I beg to differ on this point. I think the speedo reads the rear wheels. The next time it's raining, punch your accelerator with far more gas than you know is appropriate. This will, inevitably, make your rear wheels spin out like mad, and even though you're standing still, your speedometer won't seem to think so.

I mean, at least that's how the S13 is.

Actually I KNOW &nbsp;the speedo is read from the Transmission. &nbsp;I remember this from my engine swap out when I blew my KA24e in my 90'
