i have 245/40 on 9.5 now pictured above on 30mm fenders and -3 camber and like how it looks.. i don't think it will look any taller mounting it on a 10 which is what i'm doing next week, if anything it will loose some sidewall due to more stretch..

Yes I have 255/35/18's in front on a 18x9.5+15 wheel with about -1.5~-2 camber. But worthy of note is I am now on Tein lowering springs so I have 1 inch wheel to fender gap all around. On hard turn ins the front's would rub on the fender for few moments until the car catches up with the lateral load.

Pictured is my local friend's car(yes the SS featured car...) running 255/35/18's on 18x9.5+15's in front with 265/35/18's on a the rear. But note he has wide fenders in front. I test fitted his wheels on my car before I decided to run 255/35/18's in front and IMO this fits the car better then 245/40/18's would have just because of sidewall height.

and you guys have fun finding 245/35/18's! because only 8 or so models of tires come in that size that I know of, but they do fit the car very well, and comes with high price tag and very limited tire compound.(I haven't looked for 245/35/18's in about a year, so it might be a different story now)

other tire size I've tried in front for 18's is 235/40/18's on a 9.5, I enjoyed that look/setup very much as well.

on the side note, Don't let the tire stretch fool you on how tall the actual tire will be mounted on the wheel vs unmounted. the change is very minimal, it's called a stretch for a reason.

there are a lot more tire choices these days in 245/35 than before.. i opted to stick to 245/40 as it worked well for me before on 9.5.. i had 235/40 on a bbs lm 18x10's in the past and didnt like how far stretched it was showing inner wheel edge.

Since these RS-3 are going to get demolished the minute the car is tuned, i'll be buying a new set so I may try 245/35 for front and up the rear to 285/35 with some trimming on overs :-) however I'm limited to max 245 front size..

Check tire rack there are two pages of tires in that size all in mid to high 100's, none of course will be in federal price range if that's what you're after

So I ordered some 17x9+25 wheels for all four corners on my s13. Stock fenders and I'm lowered on springs/struts. Not too low. I'm not wanting to pull fenders, but a roll is fine. Will I be able to fit wider than a 235/40r17?

245/45/17's will fit square on 9J wheels. you should be able to fit up to 255/40/17's on there no problem with out a pull.

Everyone is throwing the term "s13" around too loosely. I'm going through the thread and I see "s13" all over, but no specifications of coupe or fastback. And why put so much rubber on with so much camber unless it's tuned for racing?

Thanks, that seems to be the general consensus from what I've read but most people have coilovers and can tweak camber easily to fit. Since I have static camber I wasn't sure.

If you're going to have less than 1 deg camber all around, 255's are going to poke out past your fenders and look weird. I'd stick with a 235 if I were you.

This is my setup with -1.2 to -1.5 camber all around on a 17x9 +22 255/40R17.

I think you guys missed his ride height, he's on lowering springs, which will have at least 1 inch fender gap all around.

Yeah I saw that comment. Even with a 1 inch gap all around, tires poking out past the fender is going to look janky.

These are fronts on an s13 its not like you would want to fit anything wider than a 255 anyways relax... Rear will be 275 or 285 i currently have..

I'm cool with whatever you wanna do. But some of the purists on here are gonna comment on the fact that 245 on a 10 is a little stretched. But maybe you'll be good and nobody will notice

Yes a little stretched since I don't have wider front fenders nor do I want to run wider in front.. Rear justifies nobody said this is max rubber all around

I'll be that guy... Definitely not max tire and doesn't belong in this thread. However, 10" wide wheels up front is impressive on an S13. I guess if we had a Max rim thread that would suit you better.

I don't think going over 255's in front does any benefits aside from braking distance decrase on street tires for S-chassis, just from my own observations here. (sort of putting on the flame suit on. Note that this is purely for front tire size)

When I had 17's, i ran 225/45/17's front with 245 or 255/40 17's in rear, very good combo(this is before I decided I wanted to try that max tire things) and ran that setup or similar to it for nearly 5 years and many different tire brands/models.

Now that I've got the 18's for few years, I've gone through 3 different sizes just in front on my S14 on same wheels and kept the same rear tires.(F:18x9.5+15 R:18x10+38 RPF1's)

245/40/18 to 235/40/18, now on 255/35/18's(RE760) front and rear's are 275/35/18's(RE-05).

I really can't tell much of a front end lateral grip difference from 235 to 255(side note, yes better tire compound will fix the actual amount of grip issue), but what I do notice is that 255's mute out the first initial turn-in inputs, like I feel like the car hasn't fully gripped yet for first split second then it provides the feed back and feels(All of the feels). the normal snappy steering that I've known my car to have with 225's or 235's were gone with 255's in front.

Then again, take it for what it is as everyone has different suspension and alignment setup. I mean..I only went for big tires because of this damn thread. LOL

I think it depends on what you're doing with the car.

I mostly have used my 240s for autox and staggered setup makes a 240 extra pushy. Once I went square setup I haven't looked back.
