S13 240sx help! I'm desperate!!!
Hey Zilviaheads! I've been having some issues withmy car and was wondering if anyone out there has gone through the same thing. Well, here's the story:
Starting a few weeks ago, my car has been idling really rough and it shakes like... a salt shaker? :ghey: No but seriously, it shakes and gets really bumpy when it idles and the acceleration has been terrible. When I drive, I can also smell burning fuel, leading me to believe that the car is running rich. In terms of starting the car, it starts fine when the engine's cold but if it's warm and I turn off the engine, I need to pump the gas pedal in order to get the car started again. I've had people tell me it could be the O2 sensor or the fact that my exhaust is a rusty POS. I've also been told that it MIGHT be my water temperature sensor. Anyobdy have any idea? I really don't want to have to take my car to a mechanic just to pay him $70 for something I could have figured out from you guys. Thanks in advance guys. **Sorry about the long post. |

so is it misfiring? or just running mad rich? if its a misfire try changing the plugs first, then if still misfiring couldn't hurt to change plug wires. this is a KA right?

Problems like this you will have to start by trial and error... start with the cheap stuff first.. start with cleaning the maf .. then move on to checking all wiring.. then change plugs.. and maybe wires.. then check out cap rotor n so on...
let me know if you need anything..

it may be a weak fuel pump or ur fpr may be bad... when it starts happening again... turn off the car and disconnect the fuel filter and see if there is built up pressure in the line...if there is u may need to get a new pump or fpr(fuel pressure regulator)

Coolant temp sensor would be my guess. When that goes bad, the ecu doesn't know how much fuel to give the engine on startup, because it doesn't know how hot it is. If the engine is warm, the computer will still be dumping in loads of fuel. Try disconnecting the plug off of the sensor and see if that helps any. The computer will just go into a default mode, and shouldn't be as rich. This sensor should be located right near your intake manifold.
Other than that, it could be ignition related (plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor...)

it could also be your injector or just the injector ring
also try putting carb cleaner into your iacv to clean that shit up in there, it could always help to. did u check o2, spark plugs, plug wires, distributor, temp sensor, fpr, maf sensor and clean it, plus you could have an exhaust leak leading to the smell of gas when your driving do all this and get back to us
