^ i have the same problem as you. Probably has something to do with the alignment or the body panels line up different from one side to the other. Just get a slip on 5mm spacer for the passenger's side and call it a day

they both are same size and offset.
You probably need your camber adjusted. Have your alignment checked.

You both probably need alignments and its always a good idea to have it checked when in doubt. No spacer

Camber wouldn't cause the entire wheel to stick out further. It actually seems to be a common problem on S chassis.

definitely not camber problem.

i just pull the fender (using the screws along fender) and try to match as close as i could to the other side

It's hard for me to tell from his pictures (only a front shot) how bad his driver side wheel issue is. However, I can say with certainty that I had a s13 with similar front wheel issue and after the camber and toe was adjusted, the problem was then solved. It was so bad that at first I thought the offset of the front rims were different, until I pulled them off to check. I also found out that the car had been slid off the road into a ditch that most likely caused the problem.

What is the actual physical/mechanical problem that causes this phenomenon??

gonna be running te's 18x9.5+12/18x10.5+5 running 40mm overf front and 70mm rears , tires are hankook ventus rs-3 245/40/19 and 285/35/18 . to bad hankook doesnt offer that tire wider . looks like a very good one. 140 treadwear

I'd run atleast a 255 wide up front. Also look into the NT-05's, Star Specs, or Kuhmo XS's for tires, better tires over and should have better sizes. The hankooks are okay, but they tend to have soft sidewalls and flex more than they should.

I run 255-40's up front on my stock fender S14, so if you have super wide fenders why not put them to good use since you want to track the car. You should really be able to run 275's up front with some work.

Why such a low rear offset. I put on 18x10.5+27 mustang wheels with a 315/30 tire on it and only stuck out about an inch (25MM) with 5MM or more of inner clearance at the tightest spot (RLCA).

Actually the hankook RS3 s seem to be the new king of the hill in street tire class racing. But I do agree that there is no point in not running the same wheel/tire upfront 285s all around!

I've got a question for those running 275 or greater up front:

Do you need mini tubs in the engine bay? Or does that only come into play with increased steering angle from drifting style spindles with increased angle?

Has more to do with suspension travel and ride height than wheel/tire width.
